There's no appreciation for the Middle East among European colonizers. Even the Israelis go out of their way to destroy priceless landmarks, despite claiming they're the real indigenous population of Palestine.
Jerico is one example. It's the oldest continually lived-in city in human history, going back to at least 9,000 BC. It's located in the West Bank. So, of course the Palestinians living their are under occupation by people who want to bulldoze the whole thing and pave over it with parking lots for chain restaurants and shopping malls.
The city is older than writing, wheels, alcoholic beverages, and smelting. Yet these fucks would see it burn to the ground out of pure spite for the Palestinians living there.
