Oof, that boy is about to have few rough decades.
I wonder if history will look back on contemporary kid pics like this.

But late enough to miss WWI so could have been worse.
The Netherlands were neutral in WW1 if I remember correctly. But - like all of Europe - they suffered massive food shortages.
