Disney sponsorship incoming

[-] Aedis@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Would that make Verstappen a Disney princess if it happened?

Bad news: Firefox is not officially supported by F1TV, even after changing the User-Agent... FFS

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I couldn't even log into F1TV website on Firefox mobile to link my TV!

[-] t0fr@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Yeah I don't think Firefox supports the DRM for live watching. And definitely not if you're on Linux

[-] BlackEco@lemmy.blackeco.com 2 points 2 months ago

I believe this has to do with HDR more than DRM.

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It used to work on Firefox on Windows! I was watching F1TV on it until they blocked it and I was forced to switch to Multiviewer.

[-] BlackEco@lemmy.blackeco.com 2 points 2 months ago

Yep, that's how I found about it. Utterly stupid.

[-] Rheinish@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

The Audi sidepods are looking wild.

[-] BlackEco@lemmy.blackeco.com 11 points 2 months ago

Uh oh, it is hard to tell apart the Aston Martin and Cadillac logos on a glance in the timing tower...

[-] Nighed@feddit.uk 10 points 2 months ago

It's fine, they will be at the back together, so it won't matter.

[-] Rheinish@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Aston Martin and fat Aston Martin.

[-] CMLVI@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Fatson Martin, if you will

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago

I know it's only testing, but happy to see McLaren right up there still!

[-] birne@feddit.org 8 points 2 months ago

Best time of the year. I also like that there is no TV coverage for most of the day, which forces me to follow the autosport commentary. Somehow this feels more magical than watching it on TV.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

I kind of like having the practice days on tv or computer as background noise. But thanks for the autosport tip, added to the topic ๐Ÿ‘

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 2 months ago

Same, it's lovely to have as a kind of podcast.

[-] Rheinish@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I don't understand the need for secrecy. Everyone they would need to keep things secret from is on the track with them.

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 5 points 2 months ago

Teams donโ€™t want reliability issues making a public spectacle. The second test will be shown live in its entirety.

[-] Danitos@reddthat.com 2 points 2 months ago

IMO, it's not secrecy with other teams, is with the public. They don't want team's problems to be widely known by spectators, as that would create a bad image for the team.

Notice how in the YouTube Day 1 highlights of Barcelona shakedown video they conveniently ommitted that there were 3 red flags due to car's reliability issues.

[-] birne@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago

I don't think it has anything to do with secrecy. I think it has more to do with the fact, that not many people will watch pre season testing. Also there will be coverage for the last hour of the day and full coverage for the next week.

[-] Rheinish@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That's fair. Generally, I would expect more interest in the pre-season tests since it's a new regulation, but I guess not.

I just want another win for Alonso

... is that too much to ask :/

[-] Rheinish@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Looks like not even Newey's magic can overcome Alonso's bad luck. That man is truly cursed.

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I like the little crossover that happens during testing โ€” seeing Crofty and Kravitz on F1TV.
