For a beginner with zero economic knowledge, what metrics can be observed to see the effect of this movement?

In Sweden, the Central Bureau of Statistics publish the import and export from all countries. So far the numbers for 2025 has not been published. There it will be possible to see how the trade between Sweden and USA changed during 2025.

I assume similar statistics are available for other countries.

During the last weeks I have seen in the news that the wines from USA decreased 20% and the travel to USA decreased around 20-30 % during last year. And since the dollar became cheaper the normal behaviour would be that the travel to USA increased.

You can check the balance sheets of US companies, they are available online, and you check whether theirs is drop or stagnation in sales to Europe ( compared to USA and ROW)

I would look at imports and exports over several years. That data is pretty complicated, since lots of things affect it. A single variable like a Buy European movement probably does have an impact, but measuring it this way won't be easy.

Thanks everybody for the explanation and links. Also found this nice overview : https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/infographics/eu-us-trade/

Maybe I didโ€™t explain it very well: If more and more goods and digital services are bought in Europe, this must have an impact on the economy. What parameters are going to change and where can you see this changes ?

Well the GDP would rise in europe, the stock prices would probably rise, if the HQs of the companies are located in countries that tax the income and see to that tax is not withheld the budget of these countries would rise.

Maybe(big maybe) employment rates would go up, with that immigration would probably as well.
