~~Rooks~~ Pawns can become queens, but not kings.

There are a couple of explanations for this.

Either ~~rooks~~ pawns are all female, or the queen is a gender neutral position that may be assumed by a suitable warrior twink

Or a shrimp!

They're not prawns, they're horses, and referred to as knights. Also they don't become queens.

😉

You might be confused. You seem to be taking about a similar game called “Chest”.

I think they were talking about Chess.

I think that chest is a mimic

You are probably thinking of pawns. Pawns are the ones who can promote to Queen (or other pieces except king) but as far as I know there is no 1 canon on what gender pieces are so you can use your own imagination. I have heard people say how pawns are essentially trans women (pawns are male and transition to a female queen) but like I think you can make any other lore regarding gender of pieces.

Considering that chess is a war game and historically speaking males are the ones who usually go to war, it is possible for pawns to be all male and either transition to queens or queen being gender neutral title to mean helper of king in war. Idk that is just one theory. I think, if we need to give gender to pieces, I think it would also make sense for half of the pawns pawns to be male and half of them female. Idk, use your imagination.

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

I think prawns can become horseys and (however unlikely) rooks and bishops too.

If they can transform species like that then I think a penis or a womb here or there is no big deal.

I think maybe they're more like snails, who'll do whatever it takes to secure a mate.

No, the pawns are forcefemmed into queens.

Oop, yes, meant to say pawn.

Well I thought it was funny anyway

I saw a video a while back about the history of chess and it's pieces, i think it was something along the lines that the queen was like... President, of something elss like that before queen got mainstream?

Source = very sleepy memory.

Interesting thing I never thought of, but the answer to me is yes, Pawns are female & so are Queens. Chess is extremely & did not factor transgenderism or things like that.

Thank you, no expert, but know words/terms matter a lot. I will read the link’s webpage, thanks, again.

no worries - just seems like you're the kind of person that would care about these things, and thought it was information you'd like to have

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
