Glad to see this has already been posted, it's my go-to when I want to play a quick game on my phone!
There a Github list of Android FOSS with a small games section divided into subgenres. But like I said, it's pretty small.
On Droid-ify you can sort just by games but then filter the first stuff you see by recently updated. There's quite a few puzzle type games being actively maintained. Various types of crossword games, mine sweeper, chess, suduku, lexica, solitaire, 2048, Falling Blocks, a few tower defense games. You can also install an emulator (Lemuroid) and have them play old GBA games, etc.
Puzzles (40 single-player logic games) I recommend this package on f-droid for puzzles. As for an organised list, f-droid is pretty lacking in terms of subcategories within it's categories, but I have skimmed that whole category a couple times just to see if anything is interesting. There is also a solitaire package in there. Simple Solitaire Collection (Solitaire game collection with 17 games)
