Only if you are watching from the doorway.

If you are watching from the landing where the pic was taken it looks ok.

I was more referencing the (on reflection, perhaps kinda niche) home theatre meme where people mount their TVs above fireplaces and attract the ire of the community for doing so

It doesnt seem too active, but it looks like there is a Lemmy community for it: !tvtoohigh@lemmy.world

[-] X@piefed.world 7 points 4 months ago

I caught the reference

Just seems bizarre, it's such a shit place for the tv

Maybe if they had one that was big enough to fill it wall to wall (or as close as possible) instead of having gaps to either side (and it's not even centered)

Or just commit to its awfulness and tilt it two degrees

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

That I agree with.

In relation to the ceiling it is too high. This is akin to the above-the-fireplace mounting - which is too high.

Some design oddities here and there, but overall a clever use of space.

They seem to love hanging blurred pictures.

Wonder why they didn't centre the tv

[-] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 months ago

Likely wasn't a stud where they were expecting one and instead of getting a different stand or something they were just like 🤷

I thought the couch placement might have factored in because the shelf below is centered but who knows?

[-] tomiant@piefed.social 10 points 4 months ago

Turn it vertically, have it randomize hi-def images of famous paintings on a very slow loop. I always wanted to do that.

Down in front!

judging by the number of shoes piled up in the entryway, and the number of photos of different people on the walls(although hard to tell since they're blurred), I think it must be a small apartment with not enough bedrooms, so they've repurposed the lounge as a bedroom and the entryway as a lounge.

I saw a picture of someone's computer setup in their bedroom. It was completely unremarkable except for the fact that they included a minimap of the room including furniture labels, camera position, and viewing angle.

I wonder what the minimap of this room looks like.

Even the people on the TV are like "oh god, what are you doing!?"

[-] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago

They definitely use this for some sort of carousel of pictures of their kids and family.

[-] Zozano@aussie.zone 1 points 4 months ago

Then why do they have a soundbar?

[-] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago
