But for bus and truck drivers, it's equivalent to driving without license if the 5 year medical is even one day overdue...

If your lobby is strong enough, you'll never have to do shit that would be reasonable otherwise.
In Germany, you can go blind and keep your car license once you have it, as long as you aren't caught causing an accident.
Only truck and bus licenses require a regular medical check that checks vision, hearing, and a couple other conditions that can lead to sudden loss of control when untreated. For drivers over 50 with an added reaction test.

Rentner fahren gelegentlich unbeabsichtigt in Dinge - Hecken, Häuser, Nachbarländer.
Das ist häufig skuril und soll hier gesammelt werden. Behaltet aber bitte im Hinterkopf, dass dabei nicht nur Dinge kaputt gehen, sondern oft genug auch Unbeteiligte zu Schaden kommen.
