HP made a wifi-only printer (to collect your data). Someone noticed it's not WiFi only, it's just a normal printer with a sticker over the USB port because they couldn't be bothered to make an entire new printer model to badger you into using.
Whatever the Thermal take PSUs are, it looks like they pulled a similar trick with their hidden ports.
Thank you for the explanation. I like to say “fuck the Chinese government” but also “Fuck HP” and all the other sketchy printing companies.
HP sold a printer with 'no' usb port, touting it as completely wireless, and you had to use their bullshit app setup and cloud because no wired connection! None!
There was a usb port, under a sticker, that was functional. This modular PSU appears to be the same obscuration, not sure if those ports are wired though
It's also entirely possible it was just a fuckup at the factory with the label
