Acapella lets me just outright buy a voice and download it for offline use but the voices are somewhat dated now. I don't mind large on device library and I don't mind paying once, but I want it to sound good and I want it to work 100% offline (and privately). Also would like a male voice if possible, I know most people seem to prefer female voices I guess, I've noticed male ones are harder to find.

Flawless speech(stumbles on numbered bullet points a bit)

Try the southern_English_male_medium for a starter voice(in the Piper models)

After you download a model, turn off Network Permissions for a completely offline TTS.

For me with the high models it takes like 20-30 second pauses and if the text is long enough then it just stops completely.

Yes, it can be resource intensive. Use mid models for best performance

Which platform? Linux? Docker? Are we talking about phones? MacBooks?

SmartVoice TTS has the best results for me so far. Tried Sherpa, but liked the voices recommended by SmartVoice better for longer texts.
