Palestine

A community for everything related to Palestine and the occupation currently underway by the occupying force known as Israel.

Anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism. Existence is resistance for Palestinians.

Please refer to Israel as Occupied Palestine, or occupied territories. The IDF is a fascist and ethnonationalist occupying force. Israelis are settlers. We understand however that the imperial narrative (which tries to legitimise Israel) is internalised in the imperial core and slip-ups are naturally expected.

We always take the sides of Palestine and Palestinians and are unapologetic about it. Israel is an occupying power whose "defence force"'s (note the contradiction) sole purpose for existing is to push Palestinians out so they can resettle their rightful land. If you have anything positive to say about Israel we do not care.

Hila Klein served in the IDF, she told a story on their podcast in 2017 about how she was bored working at a desk for the IDF so she tagged along on a raid to a 'terrorist city', Ramallah. She reveals that the raids were happening nightly, and they were indeed stealing Palestinians from their homes.

Ramallah is the capital of Palestine, in the West Bank. It is considered to be the most affluent, cultural, and liberal city in Palestine. It has monuments to Yasser Arafat and Nelson Mandela.

These two are zionists, through and through. Do not believe their lies when they say they support Palestine.

See what one of these raids would be like:

I've been getting a big vibe recently that Ethan has found his way into deep left water by association. He didn't get there through self reflection and education like most people do. The socialism episode of leftovers recently felt so disingenuous, and even hasan at times looked like he was bamboozled.

His crew is clearly more left than him. He isn't educated on his own political beliefs. He doesn't have a political framework to process reality through. He's just a reactionary with a lexicon of leftist shibboleths he can say to prime his audience with before saying totally reactionary shit.

His comments post Oct 7 are all the evidence you need. You can't defend his words by saying "he has a personal connection there." There are plenty of leftist in Israel who are more capable of empathy and reason. He grew up in America. He has been primed by 9/11 in the same way we all were. He lived there for five years. I can at least reason with Hila's experience, growing up in the colonel core, and their education system.

It just seems evident to me that his education stopped at some point and he never looked back, and now he's stuck surrounded by far more intelligent people.

I'm permanently banned from reddit, but try posting about this on their subreddit. Watch how fast they delete it.

Has his wife ever apologized for joining the IDF?

[–] [email protected] 46 points 1 year ago

no, they always deflect saying 'it's mandatory'. They scoffed at the idea that a pacifist should refuse service and face jailtime.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 year ago

well what definitely wasn't mandatory was for her to volunteer to raid what her and Ethan called a 'terrorist town' to steal Palestinian children in the middle of the night. But she did, because she was 'bored'.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 year ago

So was joining the apartheid army as a conscript back in South Africa before 1994. Still would expect some kind of remorse.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you can just go to jail for a bit instead

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 year ago

Like comrade Taylor Swift Stan Account.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

if it were mandatory to join a company of genocidal death troopers I would simply not do that

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

I feel that. I also wasn't indoctrinated by Israel my whole life. That's not an excuse, its just context that explains the behavior. She's had a long time to unlearn that indoctrination and hasn't, that's on her.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 year ago (2 children)

When my dad was conscripted for 2 years he just refused orders during those 2 years. Told me it were the 2 worst years of his life but that in no way he would follow orders from a death machine.

My point is, you can be drafted and still do what you can to not help the machine. She should at least show some public remorse for what she has done, I'm okay with people changing but she doesn't indicate towards any change whatsoever so my guess is she still sees Palestinian people as not much more then animals.

I feel you. When I was in my 20s I was a bloodthirsty lib post 911. For context, I was in the 10th grade when that happened. I was not so bloodthirsty that I joined the military, but had I been conscripted, who can say? There is a reason why Bush had between a 90% to 70% approval rating at that time. Hegemony, manufactured consent, and reality building. I don't know what it is like to grow up under the settler colonial hegemony of Israel, or how hard it is to unwind that thinking. However, I know what it's like to be a disillusioned 20-year-old pumped full of rhetoric.

You can get drafted, but the conditions of your indoctrination and its power over you will determine your willingness to participate. As I mentioned in another comment, this is simply context that explains the behavior. She's had a long time to unlearn that indoctrination and, by appearances, hasn't really. I didn't find my way out of the hegemonic hedge maze until my mid-30s. I know I've said some unhinged things in my 20s that I can cringe at today, but I also know I'm not being held to account by a large audience of people either.

To be fair, I am much much less charitable towards her because she is a multimillionaire, I feel that raises the bar quite a bit lmao.

Happy you grew up comrade.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I think that is fair. I imagine that level of wealth comes with an isolating effect and leaves your perspective unchallenged on the regular.

Who is Ethan Klein anyway? I'd see him show up. in other youtubers' stuff and see references to H3H3 (whatever that is), but nothing ever stood out about him to me besides him appearing all over the place.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 year ago

H3H3 was a YT channel of Ethan Klein and his wife, they had a few reaction vids and sketches that got lots of views in the early mid 2010s and a few were kinda funny but overall if you are such an open genocidal freak, I can’t watch your content in good faith, so I stopped watching his videos a while back.

Popular YouTuber that started a popular podcast

6 years ago, they're both better on this now and at least Ethan has recently admitted that he can learn more and wants to improve his empathy for Palestinians. They are both libs that's true but they're curious and they're empathetic and they're trying. I think it's unproductive to continue bringing up past comments from times when they weren't as aware of their own indoctrination

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 year ago (1 children)

they’re both better on this now and at least Ethan

?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

the 'this' that I was saying they are better on is that (i think) they both no longer consider all palestinians to be terrorists which is whats implied by calling ramallah a terrorist city. Ethan definitely still has a problem with seeing hamas as fighting for the freedom of palestine and not being brutal terrorists. I think that he was traumatized by the attack on israeli territory just like a lot of israelis were and he has had a hard time coming to grips with where he sees people standing on that attack but he hasn't let that emotion turn to support for what the state of israel is doing now and I know thats not good enough but for a normie its progress

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

im gonna be real with you chief, ethan is literally just a drug dealer who ended up becoming a youtube celeb he isnt worth following this closely or attatching this level of meaning to his actions

hes telling random men called mohammad they should be killed just for posting on social media, who ever he is he is unhinged

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

he isnt worth following this closely or attatching this level of meaning to his actions

I've never seen his twitter till you posted it

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

thats fair, im more getting at trying to rationalize a celebs perspective or such; its really not that important at the end of the day, american liberals gonna be wildin'

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

They do be wildin

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

nothing that Ethan has said recently has convinced me that he isn't a zionist. Read my other comment

Hila compared this to the holocaust. Do you agree with that assessment? She said it feels like the holocaust again.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

when did Hila compare it to the holocaust? I didn't see a link for that on your substack

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

It happened after I posted that, I need to write a new article with all of the new nonsense they've said. I wrote it before the Leftovers episode, which is where Hila said it.

https://youtu.be/JFznOHunD_c?t=2604

"a reminder the Holocaust wasn't that long ago and every every year on Holocaust day the thing they tell you is never forget you always have to tell the stories to everybody about what happened at the Holocaust and I it's always like something taken for granted for me you just grow up and you're like yeah Holocaust day you know it happened we all get it but what happened this time is really scary and it it really does bring up this topic"

https://youtu.be/JFznOHunD_c?t=2701

"it's important to empathize with how a Jewish person or specifically an Israeli might feel hearing these phone calls there are kids that survived because they were laying under their dead parents bodies and they laid there for hours the whole day and that's how they survived and the last time we heard stories like that was at the Holocaust"

The last time I heard a story like that it was about American school children.

the second quote is I think just her commenting on how she and other israelis reacted to the type of news they were hearing on october 7th which was probably largely shaped by zionist media, they probably highlighted any holocaust comparison they could make and it worked to create the reaction they wanted, you're just hearing her mention that reaction here. The first quote is bad and I do think its wrong to compare october 7th to the holocaust I just think she (and a lot of other israelis, she didn't come up with this analysis she's just repeating what she's probably heard) sees/hears about israeli jewish non-military getting killed in their own community and instantly thinks of the holocaust because that historical example has been drilled into every israeli's head.

I don't disagree with any of your criticisms of the 2, they are terminal libs but they're also just normies who don't know much about politics and assume that most of what they've been taught is true. I think they've both shown a capacity to reflect and change though and I like that quality in people.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I just don't like how you're giving her the benefit of the doubt. If she's being influenced by zionist media, that means she is now parroting it to the hundreds of thousands of people that watch the podcast. I'm not ok with that.

That reactionary thought should be brutally crushed

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I guess I'm giving them a pass because they seemed to be emotionally affected by the attacks on Israelis in their homes because it was truly unprecedented but they haven't let that emotion turn into support for the Israeli retaliation, unlike a lot of other libs who turned into genocide fans right away. So just slightly better than the typical lib but yeah maybe not worth giving the benefit of the doubt. Either way they need reeducation

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

they haven’t let that emotion turn into support for the Israeli retaliation

Once again, I disagree. Ethan is parroting Israeli state propaganda like the beheaded babies and the pink blood. He got so mad about most of his chat saying the pink blood was fake that he turned chat off to create an echo-chamber.

Hila denied that the IDF tortures Palestinians on a daily basis, even though she previously volunteered to go on a night raid to steal Palestinians from their homes.

Ethan tried to do a 'gotcha' on Hasan about IDF raping Palestinians. He doesn't believe it's happening.
