I mostly follow communities I'm subscribed to. Ideally I'd like to see when a new post is published, and also when new comments appear in already published posts.

The first correspond to "New" sorting; the second to "New comments". But at present it seems that the two cannot be combined. "Active" and "Hot" do not quite achieve this.

Is there any sort setting which would satisfy my criteria? Or will one available in the future?

Please let me know if this isn't the right community for this question – apologies in case!

it doesn't really look like there's anything that will work how you like, from what I can tell.

this (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3604) looks maybe like what you're asking about?

Thank you for the info! I see they're workning on extending the ranking system already. Then I'll just wait. "Hot" works OKish for me for now.

How is this different from HOT?

I thought they were similar, but not exactly. There's some difference in timing: the order is not exactly the chronological one.

But HOT is the closest to what I was looking for.
