Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Please don't post about US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected]
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

As a side note, OP's instance does not allow new communities.
But users can moderate communities on instances other than their own. So it’s common for a user to create an account on another instance just to create a community, then add their main as a moderator just for convenience. So it’s not a show stopper if OP wants to keep using this account.
This explains so much. What is a better community for me?
I mean instance
Someone had created [email protected] and I could swear it had some content, but engagement was low at the time and I think the creator abandoned it. I can move ownership to you if you're up to it.
Hi @Illecors — so, I found the group you shared the link to and I made a comment there.
I do not see the comment.
Another member of this thread also said they had trouble posting.
We are new to this.
Can you guide us regarding how to use the sub before we begin moderating please?
Hey, I've replied to your post. I see it has a few upvotes, which implies that federation is working.
In regards to another member - he might have trouble initially if nobody from their instance had subscribed to the community, yet. Once subscribed, everything should be fine.
I've also made you a mod.
Thank you — I think I’m still finding my way — but I shall contact you when I’ve got more experience here.
Any time!
r/typewriters is what I miss most about reddit.
Well… perhaps we’ll be the first two to start the conversation at Lemmy.
Sharing my latest acquisition, the keytops feel a bit worn and the platen has seen better days but other than that it types like a dream!
Edit: photo won't upload for some reason. Will try again later. It's a Hermes 2000.
I too have a Hermes 2000! It’s a little tank!
Regarding photos. Let me see if I can upload one here after allowing Memmy permission:
Okay… looks like is sent the image to Imgur and maybe it will show up when I click Submit
So that kind of worked.
I’m trying to learn how to use Pixel Fed so I can intentionally link to my photos.
I’m going to go and see if I can find our new typewriter group to join that party. I’ll post a recent acquisition if I can.
