What do you mean you dont have a democracy? You just aren't allowed to vote on,

-Corporate taxes

-Gun and militia rights

-Getting rid of mass surveillance

-Ownership of your own data

-Workers having time off work

-Grassroot prosecutions of the rich and powerful by citizens

-Anonymity online

-Free speech

-The right to access information

-The foreign policy of the U.S

-How many cops and prisons your country should have

-Locally run elections and rational districting or abolishing the electoral collage

-Not having 500 separate taxes for the honest and poor working man

-Whether you should be allowed to buy medicine outside the medical cartel

-Immigration

-Transparency in the state process

-Reinstituring the constitution above laws and executive orders

-Removing controversial or dirtbags politicians from office

-Banning corporate lobbying, making the electoral process public and transparent.

-Not having tracking devices forced into every device you own and even your car.

-whether you have to get skin cancer by not having window tint so CCTV can pick up your face as you drive by

-Dmca and copyright

-banning HOAs

-Getting rid of state backed paper currencies

-Owning and rooting devices you own.

But don't worry you can vote to take away each others human rights every election depending on how many of you are loyal and show up to vote for your elections. You are free to vote to strip trans people of rights one year, and Christians of rights the next year. You can strip hispanics of rights one year and white people of rights the next year. You can always vote for less corporate taxes! And more taxes for yourself. You can always vote to make your neighborhood safer by having policecorp tm and Black Rock come manage your security! Lots of homeless people out there these days. Policecorp would like to remind you to watch 15 minutes of advertising four times per day to get 15% off your security package from all those pesky homeless people who are too lazy to work 12 hour shifts in the papermill for snack money like you God fearing patriotic Americans.

Oh no, the president is fash, we elected him democratically. Time to give up without doing anything I guess, there is no way to elect anyone democratically.

[-] [email protected] 25 points 3 days ago

I'm gonna stay posting this. We didn't elect this mess. This is what we actually voted for.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Oh, so now you decided to believe him for some reason? In this case I have a underground bridge to sell you.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Elected him democratically? Lmao

Let me know how that 'popular vote' that barely includes half the population goes next time.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That's how democracy in US works. It's a bit of a shitty democracy for historical reasons, but everyone knew that before the election, it's not a secret. That's not even the biggest problem with it. It is a democracy nonetheless.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago

Your argument is: 'It's a different flavor of democracy...?' That's some Republic of North Korea level denialism.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

No, no it isn't, I don't even know what you might mean by that.
The democracy in America implemented a bit shitty. It's a forced two party system, not everyone's vote has the same power, the casting of the vote is convoluted for no reason. It's not the best way to implement a democracy, no doubts about it. Not the worst though, the first democracy ever was only available to land owning males, so compared to that the current American is outright inclusive.
But it's not some kind of new system, it was around longer than all of the voters were alive, so everyone should know how it works and how to use it. All Americans participated and made the choice. Using action or inaction, collectively, democratically, they elected Trump.

[-] [email protected] 121 points 3 days ago

No they fucking don’t. They have zero fucking days. Time is up and they DON’T CARE, they - the country of freedom - demonstrably want this.

[-] [email protected] 64 points 3 days ago

They have no fuckign clue what to do. Nobody teaches you how to oppose a fascist dictatorship and there are zero leaders doing so. It's an entire damn education and skills training regime that people are too desperately poor to afford to figure out individually.

[-] [email protected] 24 points 3 days ago

Have you seen how people online react when you float the idea of strikes (or really anything beyond parades masquerading as protests) as a method of resistance? The vast majority of Americans demonstrably don't care enough about fascism to do something about it. By the way the word isn't "oppose;" it's "overthrow."

[-] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago

The inability, for those who do want to act, to get together is a major hurdle. We're all surrounded by people who don't care or can't care. People wouldn't feel so helpless if they actually found each other and came together regularly to talk, share info, suggest ideas, teach each other. There's no reason a portion of the dem party cant self organize and start demanding real action, no party lines, no acceptance of the status quo.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

and big tech is censoring off the places they would be able to do it online.

zucc can't let facebook be the spark for another revolt can he?

the reason that portion of the dem party isnt doing it is because they are part of the system. democrats will not save you. you gotta save yourself.

You're not helping. You might be worse than the idiots. You have the awareness to see what is happening, and this is how you respond.

People need to get it through their head that there will BE NO MIDTERMS.

Trump has done this much in only 9 months, and he still has another 9 to find a way to never have elections again. He's already got his Reichstag moment with the Charlie Kirk killing. He's already declared that democrats are going to be investigated and that "left wing violence" is the enemy. Why the fuck do people think he's done all of that if not to pre-emptively get some bullshit excuse to "postpone" the midterms?

Get your heads out of your asses, Americans.

[-] [email protected] 27 points 3 days ago

There's no benefit in ceding ground preemptively. I don't suspect he'll actually cancel the election so much as make it even less fair that usual to avoid the risk of losing, but either way, convincing everyone that this is what he will do, before he does it, just means that when it happens people won't get as mad about it because it'll be "old news" in their heads anyway.

[-] [email protected] 17 points 3 days ago

There's no benefit in ceding ground preemptively.

There is: If you know there will be no fair elections, you know you need to find another way of resisting fascism. It seems many are banking on a blue wave to come and save the day in the midterms, so the knowledge that this won't and can't happen is important.

If midterms happen it will have to have people in the streets prior. We really need the various military/police to step up by standing down.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 3 days ago

Trump has done this much in only 9 months, and he still has another 9 to find a way to never have elections again.

Small correction: He still has 14 months before the elections themselves, and another two and a half months before those elected take office, to figure it out. In other words, he's still got ~65% of his pre-Midterms term to destroy democracy.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago
[-] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago

There will be midterms, there just won't be fair or accurate results.

he already installed a election denier to head the elections infrastructure nationwide. also there s a subset of people that dont register on purpose, because they dont want to be called for Jury duty, which can be potentially financially devestating for people.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago

Hold the fuck up. Am I getting this right?

You have to register to be able to vote. If you register, you might have to work in court, losing out on pay. You don't get any compensation for that. The lost pay can ruin you financially.

What the fuck?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Some states dont pay you on the first, day even if they do its like less 5-15/day if your selected. and federal court might pay you more , and this is seperate from your cities JD, so some people have gotten both JD summons in one year. and Commuting by car is partially reimbursed, lol. i do hear alot of people skip JD, but most are dismissed anyways.

There’s really no reason to not have midterms. Even if there is a blue tsunami, and Congress impeaches Trump, that just empowers him further. It would finally precipitate the Constitutional crisis that solidifies his dictatorship. The Executive is the enforcement arm of the government, and it’s already been purged and filled with cultists. They will not remove him, they will not stop following his orders.

Cancelling the midterms would surely cause a Constitutional crisis, earlier, and there’s no reason to be hasty. The longer that event can be put off, the less likely people will resist violently.

nope, 400 days in the past you mean. the chance was NOV 5. and its already been more than 1year to this day, since biden dropped out of the election.

the midterms and next presidency is largely less effective, because of the BBB, and the damage and blame would be placed on dems.

James Carville detected; opinion disregarded.

[-] [email protected] 36 points 3 days ago

OK, lemme get this straight. This is a group project for 340M people with a deadline that is more than a year ahead. How do we think this will work out?

  • People will do nothing for another at least 10 months or so, then panic and do anything to at least have something to show for.
  • Most people won't participate at all and hope that the rest will hand in something that they can claim ownership of.
  • When the deadline arrives, they will try to copy the democracy of neighboring nations, even though it's far too late to change the outcome.

[-] [email protected] 46 points 3 days ago

It was over the night he won. We traded it for slightly cheaper eggs.

[-] [email protected] 97 points 3 days ago

Correction: For the obviously false promise of cheaper eggs.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Actually Democrats won, if you discount proven cheating like purging legitimate voters. What was that word again for a government that doesn't have fair elections?

[-] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago

You traded it for tiktok and other shiny things. The last nine months has proven that modern humans as a whole will go out of our way to not do a damn thing about a LOT of bad shit as long as we still have access to our ipads, smartphones and streaming services.

Americans (and yes...Westerners in general) are so addicted to their creature comforts that we'll excuse almost anything in order to avoid the inconvenience of not having them if we stand up and actually revolt.

It's utterly disgusting.
