When you need that much power, you would be better off with a workstation or server chassis that has multiple power supplies.

I dunno. Maybe.

After replacing my power supply every three to four years I upgraded to a 1000w supply. Totally excessive to my needs, and it's been running well for fifteen years now.

Maybe because of better components, maybe because it's so under loaded. In any event, it's been an investment that's paid off.

Hard to see that happening with one this price but maybe for some power users!

I went from a TX750 V1 (~2009?) that never died to my current SFX unit that's... never died. Did I just get lucky?

I'm still rocking my ax1200 from my 5820k / dual 6970 build from ~ 15 years ago. Replaced the fan last year and it's still chugging away powering one of the machines in my rack.

Such a decent piece of hardware, sure the load it sees now are minimal compared to a 4.5GHz 22nm CPU + two overclocked GPUs but outside of the fan it's never missed a beat.

This requires a 20 amp circuit. So GPU manufacturers are going to start forcing upgrades to circuit breaker boxes/house wiring to keep up with the GPU arms race.

Edit: i wasnt prepared to do math that early in the morning. This requires so much electricity, i am starting to think it runs off of two c19 plugs in different 20 amp circuits at 110v. 16amps (the 80% safety threshold of a 20a circuit) can only deliver 1760 watts of electricity. 16a*110v=1760w.

So this either requires a 30a-220v circuit for a fucking dryer or this is bollocks. Apparently c19s can do up to 250v at 20amps so 16a*220v=3520w. People this is nuts!

You can run one of these in the UK on a 13A fuse, since our domestic supply is 230V. That's the most allowed on a single plug, though.

The more common household items that use 13A fuses are kettles and "three bar electric fires", which should let you know how much heat these fuckers are going to be pumping into your room. Going to be able to heat a large room in winter when this thing is flat out.

Your comment made me do the math. I'm starting to question the validity of this product as written in the article. This is a house fire waiting to happen on a C19 plug or it will never reach half of the 3000w that it says it will do.

4x or more 3090s is a pretty popular homelab setup, heh. I've seen janky ones with like 7 mixed 3090s/3060s. This actually makes some sense.

It's absolutely bonkers that AMD/Intel won't just sell 'normal' folks tons of VRAM on GPUs instead, but, well... they don't want money I guess. And of course Nvidia's not going to do it.
