But the Right is doing all of it.

Medhi Hasan on the Chris Cuomo Show details how the rights rhetoric is painting the left as violent when the vast majority of political violence is done by extremist elements on the right.

…the vast majority political violence is done by extremist elements on the right.

Read a good point on another comment section that went something along the lines of:

Tyler Robinson was raised in a right-wing, specifically very MAGA, household. And what is one of MAGA’s primary values? Destroy what you don’t agree with. He didn’t use typical “leftist” problem solving when confronted with something he didn’t like, instead he employed the tools he was raised with, specifically violence against opposing views. Even if he flipped ideological perspectives (to a degree), he didn’t change his methodology. That rearing of hate and black-white thinking was still heavily embedded in his psyche.

Still 100% speculation.

In the official story from the FBI, the dad confronted his son about the gun used because the dad thought it looked like a gun that the suspect had gotten as a gift. Are guns typically given as gifts? I'm trying not to make assumptions about the suspect's background, but that struck me as odd.

Yes. I’d say that is a very common practice. Especially since the gun belonged to the grandfather. Regardless of political background most white, rural families have heirloom guns.

By "leftist" you mean centrist right? Because every leftist knows violence is the ultimate tool in our arsenal.

OC said "opposing views" and it's absolutely not leftist to bring violent against opinions. There's nothing left about murdering a podcast host.

The world is probably a better place with him gone but a leftist should know eliminating an extremely minor player doesn't win us the game.

In a war you take out the enemy propagandists.

I usually agree with you but I'm not with you on this one. Unless the goal is an actual civil war, his death is just the silver lining on his murder. Just handing the GOP a year's worth of ammo for free.

One step forward, two steps back

Did Sun Tzu say that? Not to be a dick, but I'm pretty sure you don't have a source for that beyond, "because I want to kill right wing propagandists."

In which major conflict was killing propagandists a high priority and doing so led to good outcomes?

Pretending Kirk was an important figure, even in MAGA is a weird thing for people on the left. He was a college campus agitator, and not even the most prominent one of those. Your comments are a caricature of militancy.

Lying to yourself that he wasn’t one of the most globally recognisable names in the alt-right pipeline is ridiculous.

Fact is the dude has had a decade or so of helping lead up to the stage of the world today. Far more “important” than probably 99% of the world in terms of his effect on it.

Some context clues you missed… “Typical” as in mainstream, and “leftist” is put in quotation intentionally. Also, we’re discussing American politics, so if you’re not familiar with our thinking, and are not interested in framing within that realm of thinking, then you can take your drum beating elsewhere. It’s useless in this discussion.

Amaricans and amarican politics is so loud it feels like its the only politics that exist. 🥴

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Well, whether the world likes it or not, it impacts everyone globally. That’s Neo-colonialism for you.

If it wasn't for hypocrisy, the GOP would not exist.

At this point it's best to accept how we're going to be portrayed. There isn't much we can do to absolve ourselves of their preconceptions. Best to make sure you're prepared for the worst of it and hope it doesn't come to that. I for one, refuse to be led by fear. The world's not fair, and if it's not fair to you, use that injustice as a motivator.

I agree that we should be prepared. We are not changing these minds. But we need to have a rhetorical response that's convincing to those who don't know where they stand. And we need to move past just responding. Leftists are just terrible at rhetoric these days.
