Way more than I thought and way more in the interior of the continent than I thought too. Honestly I assumed there were none.

Yeah, sorry about the lack of an actual wiki link. I was up later than I should have been and sleep deprived when I posted.

I felt the same way. I always thought there were under 15 active stations nowadays. And of those, I figured there were only 5-6 that were active year long. Boy, was I surprised when I learned the true amount!

I wasn't able to find any information indicating that this station was lost, missing, etc. on the Wikipedia link you shared. Have I overlooked something?

If you're at the south pole, how do you explain which direction you're going? Everywhere is north.

During the polar day, you can identify the longitude (East-West direction) by the UTC and the position of the sun.
