Yeah that can't really be excused. There's no other intention you can mean in 2025.
This is something I think about as a writer sometimes when it comes to fantasy or sci-fi where fictional races exist. In the context of the fictional world by itself, the panel isn't all that negative. It's about vampires. But there is almost no chance in hell anyone reading that, in today's climate, won't think it's an allegory for transgenderism even if that was not the intention of the writer (which is a stretch that you could write that, in this day and age, and be completely oblivious to how it looks in context to fucking reality).
I'm not a writer, but I do enjoy a good story
And unfortunately, the racists, transphobes, conspiracy theorists, etc. of the right wing have actually come up with some damn good stories. Unfortunately they actually believe the stories they're telling.
But if, for example, pizzagate was just some story that someone wrote, no one believed it, it didn't use real world people and places, etc. that might be an interesting read.
Bloodshot #1 the Second?
I have an original Bloodshot #1 from the 90s. Obviously they rebooted, but the headline caught my attention and I wanted to make sure.
Yeah, new #1 out this week.
I read the first text box in that panel of art that the article shows and thought...coulda been worse.
Then I read the second text box and thought, oh. That is so much worse.
Pretty much my reaction... "Ok, there's some plausible deniability... oh, and there it goes!"
Publishers excuse of "Hey, writer is Argentinian, something was lost in translation..." has now officially aged like milk:

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.
If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.
* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(
I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.
