How did he keep track of her heart progression? That's the most impressive part to me. You'd have to be hovering round with the ring in your pocket for weeks

But also, "you'd have to be hovering around for weeks", uh, the couple is about to be engaged I'm sure they spend a fair bit of time together and unless you're lucky enough to live in a huge house, you might be hanging out in the same room most of the day. So....
I mean shit, even cut that out, think of a healthy couple, she would be actively communicating her progress with his mod AT THE VERY LEAST!

I'm married and happy and we've played Stardew Valley together. Sometimes I leave the house and it's possible my wife plays stardew while I'm not right next to her. Doesn't mean I'm broken and lonely. Jesus fucking Christ.

Dude, totally fair, that was needlessly dickish on my part. I'm saying I think it's more than likely she would be communicating her progress through the mod he made for her so he would know when to focus on the ring shit. She more than likely would have told him she was near to finishing.
This is a very similar to my dynamic, I've experienced entire TV series through the communicating of my partner because the stuff they are excited about comes up in conversation.
I'm sure plenty of couples don't necessarily communicate like that despite not being broken and/or lonely.
She could have reached the 10 hearts when he's at work or something.

It's entirely possible she updated him on the progress. My wife gives me play by plays on the games she's playing

Her favorite series is Legend of Zelda, and Link to the Past is up towards the top of both of our favorites of the series. I combined a bunch of QoL romhacks for it (CD quality music, bug fixes, day/night cycle, some pallette changes to be more accurate to promo art, quick item swap, etc). Even had to do some minor editing to patches so they didn't overwrite each other wrong.
Overtop, I did a Link and Zelda swap, so the intro has Zelda rescuing Link. Then a comprehensive run through all the text in-game to swap Link and Zelda (and correct pronouns), and put my name over Link. So now the intro is her rescuing me from the dungeon.
Then the intro ending dialogue dump when you rescue "the princess" was edited to ask her on a date, to a place we tried to go on our first valentine's day together but turned out to be entirely booked out for the day. Got a do over on that, fancy dinner, then on the way back to her apartment diverted us to the park where we met "to play pokemon go" (an addiction of hers at the time).
She was so into Pokemon that she almost tripped over me kneeling down with the ring.
That's adorable. Also kinda insane effort on your part.
Not insane. The goal is just to have to do it once.
For the right person, the effort is worth it

Yeah, totally. But, If you want to do it right then all the previous cut scenes should be formative events in your relationship. So they wouldn't be the same for everyone.
