People urge Downing Street to go fuck the selves with something large and splintery

You have to understand, your right to speak freely and protest peacefully in your own country doesn't outweigh Israel's sovereign right to starve and murder civilians in a country that isn't theirs

The general public requests that Downing Street stop criminalising everyday protest.

However, a source with knowledge of the police’s early planning for this Saturday’s event said: “If they think that by turning up with significant numbers that we can’t arrest them for breaking terrorism laws, they need to think again.

“They will be arrested. However we have to do it, they will be arrested for breaking terrorism laws.”

I thought our prisons were full? Early release for real criminals but plenty of space for retired teachers, priests, and magistrates?

They are. Arrested doesn't even imply "charged"; it's a threatening tactic, but the pilice and the cps know nothing will get very far in court.

Downing street has a law that says you shouldn't practice free speech.

“If you want to ban Palestine Action, you'll have to proscribe Yvette Cooper too.”

New direct action group 'Yvette Cooper' emerges

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
