I do not understand what has to go wrong in someone's brain to think harassing children about their genitals is a good idea.

Even if you do not believe in the science of gender, how is this person's approach make sense?

As an adult I do not understand using children in this way.

The gender thing is just the latest in a long tradition of overly-aggressive sports parents. Parents have been freaking out at hockey games and dance recitals for as long as I can remember.

It's really just the same thing, but now with 50% more bigotry.

Like, maybe just calm down and let kids have fun?

I can get behind 'calm down and let kids have fun'

This is not a hypercompetative parent, this is a fascist zombie. The differences are important.

Part of it is the rhetoric that everyone is being exposed to from south of the border .... it's extreme right wing ideology that conservatives would like to inflame everyone with, especially older people who are seeing the world that they grew up in completely changed into something more open, inclusive, multi cultural, mutlireligious, multiracial and open to sexual orientation an identity. Nothing is more frightening to them than to see their old world change and they are forced to take either a second seat or middle seat among everyone else as equals on the school bus of change.

At the risk of being judgmental myself, one look at the picture of the two responsible people and I was like, "yeah that figures."

In my experience as a visibly queer person, looks are a pretty unreliable way to judge if someone's a bigot. I've known super redneck-looking allies, and I've known glamorous looking queerphobes.

In this case it wasn't specifically a bigot vibe I was getting, but just plain asshole-coded. Which frequently goes hand in hand with bigotry.

Fair enough, but still, IMO judging someone based on their appearance is kinda rude. It also ends up dipping into classism or other forms of prejudice quite often too.

Josef Tesar is his name and harassing children is his game.

They're going to apologize since they've been proven wrong, right? ... Right?

Not likely. Lots of those people in this area. Same type that spent the last few years yelling at random service employees for following COVID procedures. There's been a couple recent defaced rainbow crosswalks as well. Remaining positive has been very difficult this past few years. Happy pride month.

Just heartbreaking thinking of the little girl... Must have been really traumatic.

And they say mental illness is not contagious. Bullshit. It seeps through the screen, it sprays out your phone.
