Warhammer 40k

A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

MODERATORS

The results are in! All of the contests sumbitted great entries, which will be archived on this page, but the winner of both the community and moderator vote is the ork warboss by [email protected].

The trophies for both categories are going to be mailed out shortly. I congratulate [email protected] for the win and hope they find a good display shelf to show off the their model and trophies.

I'd like to thank the mods of the other communities who participated in the vote, and to give a shoutout to their communities.

Marder

"I would choose the Ork. It is well done and it has a very colourful paintjob, which is hard to do without the model looking to busy."

Zeus

"These are all great but the detail on that Ork is amazing. So the Ork gets my vote."

Ready! Player 31

"They are all really great entries but for me the winner is Doctor_Spork’s retro warboss. I love how clean it is, particularly the medals and the weaponry, and it really just pops off the screen."

Panzer

I don't want the other entries to feel totally left out.

Pleb's Space Marine entry has comments:

"I really like the detailing on the folds of the banner and the wax of the seal"

"the scar on the face is really nice"

"I like the detailing on the hanging gemstones (particularly the back one)"

Comments on SpiceMerchant's Sister of battle from the moderator panel include:

"the metal looks really nice"

"The highlights on the knee-plates and breast-plate insigniæ look really good"

"my favourite base of the 3, and it integrates well with the model"

There will be more small events here in the future, and next year around the same there there is a plan to hold another painting competition as an annual event.

@setsneedtofeed Wow!!!! Thanks, I'm not sure what to say. Can't wait to get my trophy, I've never won a trophy before! I'll need to clear some space.

I haven't entered a painting competition since visiting GW in the 90's so this is a surprise.

Thank you for organising this and I will do my best to be involved in future ones.

Also: Yes, thank the mods (and setsneedtofeed in particular) for organizing the whole thing.

Congratulations! That Ork really is something else!

Thanks for hosting this. It was a lot of fun to have something specific to paint for.
