the short answer is that conservatives refused to pay. the budgets were too small, too delayed or didnt exist at all.

texas got exactly what they paid for.

just like with guns, theres a dead-kid tax that will be unavoidable when you only care about yourself.

When people keep voting for politicians pushing “science is woke” and who are actively thwarting science based policies, this is the outcome they sign up for, whether they like it or not.

The unfortunate part is that the children victims in this flood had no direct say in these decisions. How many of these devastating events will it take before people start believing in science based facts again? Looking at the never ending series of school shootings in the US, may be never.

Lots of people still choose to buy/build houses in disaster prone areas. "It hasn't happened in the last 30 years" doesn't mean it won't tomorrow.
