duuuuuude if this is happening in iowa, could it also be happening in other redish states.. florida maybe?

theres a manual fix for this. in mbin, when you attach the image in a post and save, it is uploaded and shown. you can then grab the image link (right click image, copy link), edit the post, and add the link using the image tag, and save, it then shows in-line in lemmy.

yeah, it sucks but at least it works until this is implemented. ive been usin this method for over a year now..

i personally know at least 6 people who didnt vote last the last election at all that were enthusiastically voting harris. people are motivated this time in a way they just werent really with biden.

theres at least one outlet that was pointing out how terribly skewed the presidential polling was compared to the congressional races, which is just not technically plausible. the only explanation is biased polling processes in the presidential race to keep people invested.

theres hope.. theres possibility the polls are wildly wrong and harris gets it by 5-6 points everywhere it matters.

why not both?

luckily we can do more than one thing at a time implementing where each makes the most sense.

everyone keeps saying 'no! its this one thing or dont bother!' no, thats not how progress is made.

im not arguing for tesla, tesla is objectively garbage.

i agree public transport is where its at.

reality and logistics show we will need both here in the u.s. due to societal and resource constraints.

i didnt come across lemmy, specifically. i wanted to build a public reddit clone, and found 'kbin', which federated both microblog (mastodon/universodeon/threads) and threaded forums (lemmy).. so i built that. kbin has since died, but was resurrected in a fork named mbin.

so im not technically on lemmy, but our instance fully federates with it.

ive been actively recruiting users from reddit who dont like swimming in bot farms talkin to eachother.

matt frewer (max headroom!) in doctor, doctor

only a few seasons, they never really gave the show time to find its footings but frewer is fucking hilarious and i lament he has not done more comedy.

chasing perfect in lieu of the good is not how progress is ever made. its short-sighted, and honestly.. stupid.

if we only ever attempted to create perfect things nothing would ever get created.

with the recent death of the shows theme-song singer jack jones, i thought id give this a rewatch having not seen it since it aired..

i found it more entertaining than i expected.. at least so far. im not sure how it made it to 10 seasons, but some highlights ive noted...

  • cast is introduced as crew, and not even by character name except julie!

  • at least 3 or 4 celebrity appearances every episode! its kinda neat seeing all these old stars out of their element in small vignettes. seriously every star you can think of of this era seems to have popped on.

  • the ship is so freakin tiny. you have to think there are mega-yachts bigger these days

  • writing can be funny. the relationship 'advice' is somewhat dated, but not inappropriate at times. 'family ties' mom (MBB) is in a centerfold the first episode!

so far it could have been titled 'the apology boat' due to the wraps ups of most stories almost completely entail confession and apology.

The 23-year-old said she was in the 'worst pain she'd ever felt'.

Mary Howard-Elley’s voter registration was canceled after her citizenship was questioned. Her saga shows how tough it can be for eligible voters to get reinstated.

i get stuck on food items. anyone else afflicted?

what an amazing dramedy.

especially the first several seasons. so many wonderful characters, it really has something for everyone.

buttery voiced john corbetts seamless radio-narration and its philosophical bent fits right in with a town full of quirky personalities. the indigenous population playing a wonderful straight-man to the town.

it even holds up well. the remoteness denotes a lack of tech that isnt too far out of place today.

this is one of those shows where you just want to be a part of it.

it could also never be replicated/rebooted successfully... lighting striking twice and all that.

anyone else have such fond memories of northern exposure? im about to start my per-decade rewatch.
