I've clicked through all the options in the settings and no matter what I click I can't seem to get YouTube videos to play in the boost app. Every time I click on one it opens my YouTube app and I don't know how to get that to stop happening. I'm on a galaxy s22 ultra if that helps.

Just like on boost for reddit, youtube changed their api for this, that's why it no longer works. Ruben is gonna have to implement an old youtube player just like most apps are doing to allow youtube videos to play.

Did not know this. I fucking hate youtube and I wish there was a good alternative.

Does newpipe not work for you? That's what I'd use if I didn't have a YouTube adfree subscription.

It would be cool if more people would host using peertube but it never seems to really get off the ground.

I'll be honest I've never heard of it until just now. But after reading about it I'm gonna give it a shot. I'm sick of youtubes bullshit.

Settings > General > Tick the box for Internal You Tube player

I've done that and it still opens in the external YouTube app.

Remove the tick in General, Settings and it will work.

Just tried it and it still opens in the external YouTube app.

Besides that check says if you uncheck it then it will open youtube in the external youtube app.

Same for me.

You need to change:

Settings -> Apps -> Boost -> Open By Default -> Add Link

In that list box, you can pick all YouTube links and select that they should open with Boost. May work, haven't tried with Boost, just with Newpipe.

Ok I got it working using this method but instead of adding youtube to boost I instead went to YouTube and unslected all its links.

Very good. :)

Just tried that and there is no option to add a site to that list.

Same for me also.
