Why on earth would you require two parking spaces for a two-bedroom house? That's so often going to be housing used by parents with kids.
Lol, Adelaide has the widest roads. Wish they'd do this in Melbourne. For some reason, although most houses in Melbourne have driveways, everyone parks their multiple vehicles on the already narrow roads.
This would actually be good legislation for cyclists as it would mean less cars parked in the street.
Easier to just not issue parking permits for houses that have garages. No need to make them bigger. And fine anyone parking on the side of the road. Councils could make a fortune off of the fines and people would be forced to use the garages built in. And best of all. Arseholes with trucks 2x the size of a regular car will pay the most since they either have to pay fines if the garage doesn't fit or they need to buy/rent houses with big enough garages which is gonna cost more.
Punish those with big cars not everyone else
Yeah fair point.
Not taking advantage of free street parking is crazy. Think of all that extra storage and space in your garage when you don't have to park in it!
Most suburban garages seem to be used for storage rather than car parking.
What do we do with all this shit when we get rid of the cars?
