Daimond is a fucking monopoly that held stranglehold on everything it coudl get its hands on, I hope the company closes and also hope someone manages to salvage all distributors affected, as Roll for Combat has some really good 5e and PF2 content.
"They actually have the right, to take products that they don't own and sell them at any price that they want; basically liquidate them and then keep all the profits for themselves and use that money to pay off the banks and to pay off the bankruptcy debt that they have."
What the fuck
How is this possible?!????
A small list of the 124 affected companies/studios:
- Archie Comics
- Bandai Entertainment
- Boom Entertainment
- DC Comics
- Goodman Games
- Green Ronin
- IDW Publishing
- [indecipherable] Comics
- Marvel Comics
- Pizo Comics
- Titan Comics
Fuck Diamond Comic Distributors and jesus christ US you gotta fix your shit this is ridiculous. Your poor bankruptcy laws are actually causing a cascading negative economic effect that will have an impact on your economy.
- Sure the banks will get paid but all the impacted managers, employees, and related staff all these people who have bills to pay now will not be able to readily pay them back because they likely won't be paid.
This infuriates me in two ways.
Several hundreds of thousands of innocent people will likely be negatively impacted for the benefit of a corrupt few.
Fuck zero-sum systems man. This is honestly why we're still in a pointlessly tragic dystopian society.
recursive_recursion said in Roll for combat's (and others) distributor has gone bankrupt, and is liquidating their stock and keeping the money: > How is this possible???
Because despite the fact that they were operating as if they were selling the books on consignment, they were apparently doing business on credit on paper. It's dirty dealing. Which I'm sure didn't stop them from sending unsold books back to the publisher any time it was convenient for them, or failing to pay them in a manner that reflects credit-based purchases.
They set up a system where it was heads they win, tails you lose.
They sent my shop to collections over an order they have yet to ship, but want me to pay it because I canceled my account with them. Luckily it is only $300 something, I cannot imagine some of the other companies being screwed by them.
Diamond was a shit company to work with while they were doing business normally, sounds like they got even worse in bankruptcy.
@eerongal Fear not! Act now for possible respite. https://bleedingcool.com/comics/publishers-have-3-weeks-to-object-to-diamond-comics-liquidation-plans/
