Hey.

What if.

We demanded everyone else pull their weight, after we demanded to bear that weight, and then we left the alliance so our new bff Russia could attack and we wouldn’t be responsible to act.

Then we could attack Greenland and Canada with Russias blessing and not have that awkward inter-NATO thang.

Awesome.

Is this to be taken seriously or is it just republican trolling?

It’s serious. They’ve been threatening this for years, but were blocked in various ways. They’ve spent years breaking all those guardrails.

e: this will show whether all the guardrails are gone (it kinda looks like they are)

So, the only NATO country who actually used article 5 to call it's allies into war now wants to leave because the rest isn't doing enough?

MAGA will leave NATO, and form an alliance with Russia, China, North Korea, and others (probably Turkey, Hungary, etc.). As a show of good faith, Russia will demand the return of Alaska, and China will demand Taiwan, and HitlerPig will give it to them, because they'll say he can have Canada and Greenland in return. He'll like that deal because they are bigger, so he will feel like he's got the better deal.

Didn't they just come to an agreement with NATO?

They came to an agreement with Canada too, and Iran, before they suddenly decided they didn't. Agreements with the USA aren't worth much.

They were working on an agreement with Canada, they hadn't reached an agreement. And the agreement with Iran was reached by Obama years ago, it wasn't Trump lying.

Didn't the USA have a trade agreement with Canada (NAFTA) which Trump ripped up during his first presidency? And then during that same presidency didn't Canada and the USA negotiate a new one (USMCA), which Trump ripped up during his second presidency?

And we're going to leave the $10 trillion worth of equipment and logistics just sitting over there?

It's pretty cool how we've become a rogue state. I sure wish we'd be terrible and awful and bad. Wait, we're doing that.

This bill is going nowhere, and Trump just said at the summit that he would honor article 5.
I know Trump often changes his mind, but the summit showed that Trump has definitely changed course for the better regarding NATO.

Yes that's what counts ultimately, but it was remarkable how normal Trump behaved at the NATO summit.
But another reason it won't go anywhere is that Republicans in general don't favor leaving NATO. And with only partial Republican support, it can never pass.

Republicans obviously all belong in prison, but this would be a good thing.

Don’t ask—this person’s prolly an alt-leftist who hates literally anything that America does, including participating in NATO. A lot of the alt-left think NATO is a terrorist organization. Look up horseshoe theory if you wanna know how/why the alt-left starts to spout out alt-right talking points (like anti-NATO shit)

**and for the record, not saying NATO is above criticism. But given what russia is doing, anyone with a modicum of common sense can see why that alliance is vital for Europe’s stability at this point in time.
