Ha. Cartoon characters are very satisfying to draw and colour.

I stopped on the way home and got some Maccas for dinner, ordered chicken nuggets so they would be easy to eat while driving. I received chicken wings instead, which failed the easy to eat test but were very tasty. I'm not sure how the staff in those places can handle busy periods, it was absolute chaos in the kitchen there.

I also got some petrol - drove in the wrong side of the pump on autopilot, but remembered before I got out and did a loop around to the right side.

The pets are very glad I am home (and that they finally got dinner). I put away the frozen stuff I brought up, and Miss Meow took the opportunity to explore the garage and van a bit while I had the door open. I also put out the bins, the new pet fencing I put up worked well - I can reach the bins easily over the fence, and don't have to worry about Mr Woof while I have the side gate open putting them out.

Are wings more expensive than nuggets? If so that’s a win!

How are miss meow and mr woof going at the new place?

Just got home from work. EOFY sucks the big one. Kill me now. (after I've had this glass of wine that magically leapt out of the fridge and into my hand) Really should eat something. Later.

I like to play the same music when I do particular art or study. It puts me in the frame of mind I want.

I listen to Morricone when I do chinese calligraphy. Interstellar is going to be my new computer studies music.

Pretend you're a teacher or a lecturer in a subject you're passionate about, and someone says, "What's the point in learning about this? It's so boring and not useful!"

What would you say? Wrong answers only.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 9 hours ago

Can you put your hands on your head? Now stay like that until you learn some manners you little prick.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 8 hours ago

This is the best one.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 9 hours ago

Yet here I am. Having to listen to you.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 9 hours ago

"That explains why you're here then"

[-] [email protected] 2 points 9 hours ago

Be that as it may it’s important to learn.

If not then you’re welcome to leave. (Especially if it’s at uni)

How much bacon it took much bacon if adding to a bolognaise sauce that will contain chicken?

[-] [email protected] 5 points 11 hours ago

I reckon a small amount of bacon just to add a bit of depth to the flavour. I wouldn't fry it too much beforehand, just a little. A chicken based Bol can be a bit meh (or some I've had were), so adding just a little bacon or something cured and strong tasting is a good choice. Maybe I'm just biased because I love the richness of beef.

I don't know, but 85 Italian Nonnas just fainted

[-] [email protected] 2 points 9 hours ago

It's blasphemy

[-] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago

My understanding is anything other than pork & veal mince is NO. I do all Sorts of things to meaty pasta sauce (including grated carrot) but I don't call it Bolognese

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 hours ago

Guess I’ll find out to my own detriment.

ham is fine, but bacon?

chicken?

( it's in my traditional italain cookbook )

[-] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago

Well let’s just say I’m using what I have at the moment.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 hours ago

As much as you like.

They look awesome.

My pic of the bunch would be the ones with strawberry jam.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago

Thanks. It's melted smashed up boilt lolly. Which turn out to be a bit hard to find

[-] [email protected] 2 points 8 hours ago

Woolies used to have own brand boiled lollies but they’re gone now. Some locations have swanky kinds in jars but too expensive for cooking with

[-] [email protected] 6 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Try Preston Market. The out of date/out of stock re-sellers sometimes have bags of boiled lollies that are perfect for stained glass bikkies.

EDIT: or make your own. Boiled lollies are just sugar and water boiled to hard crack stage, then coloured and set. I cup of sugar+1/4 cup of water is a good base mix. Boil up to hard crack stage, then dip out a half ladleful, add food colouring to suit, stir with fork and pour onto a tray lined with baking paper to set. Dip out some more, colour etc until you have all the colours you need. I recommend banishing all pets, kids and spouses from the kitchen until you've finished. Hot sugar is nasty when juggling priorities.

And the final result is easily storable in airtight jars/bags for future use. And you're going to smash it up anyway so if bits stick to each other that's fine.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

Yeah hot toffee is nasty stuff! Not sure I can be bothered. The sugar is cheap but if you want a bunch of different flavours the effort and price goes up quickly

[-] [email protected] 2 points 9 hours ago

TIL stained glass bikkies exist. 😊

[-] [email protected] 3 points 8 hours ago

Yep. Used to do them for putting round the sides of birthday cakes for the boys. In football team colours. And to satisfy my bloke's toffee addiction. Very fun and very pretty. They look lovely as christmas tree decorations.

Had a bit of a snack and a glass or two of water.

Feeling. A little bit better now.

Need to keep drinking water just incase I’ve got something to flush it out and I need plenty of rest.

1 more sleep until I can set up the drum kit. Come onnnnnnnnnn

Need to summon the will to cook so good scraps don’t stink up the bin for a week.

I don’t feel so well today and tired as well.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 15 hours ago

Today I visited the centrelink office for the first time in 18 years. I walked in and froze. It's changed so much and it's quiet which was a contrast to the last time when some cunt was having a melt down, throwing chairs and punches and the cops were called.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 12 hours ago

Instantly thought of the old centrelink in fitzroy

My resignation has been officially announced, so now it’s real. My manager has checked if I’m still comfortable with the decision and it’s a resounding hell yes.

Now I just need to somehow stay awake after a lunch wrap that turned out way too greasy and heavy.

Poor norflands just can't catch a break this year huh

[-] [email protected] 6 points 9 hours ago

Visiting Northland is a game of roulette - will I be stabbed, suffer smoke inhalation, or get run over by a rampaging car? Maybe all 3 if visiting on the same day?

[-] [email protected] 6 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

We just need floods and pestilence and my bingo card will be full

[-] [email protected] 4 points 11 hours ago

It's just next to Darebin Creek and well, the pestilence was in our living memory, so let's not tempt fate...

[-] [email protected] 3 points 11 hours ago

Oh dear….
