Born in 1999. Goal is to live to 101. So I would be born in the 20th century, spent most of my life in the 21st and died in the 22nd.

Thanks to medical advancements at least you have a better chance than people born in 1899. And thanks to The Event you have a significantly better chance than people born to the radioactive hellscape of 2199

[-] [email protected] 2 points 7 hours ago

I always tell that to people hahahaha, through I'm from 1998.

But don't we have to be alive until 2101? Don't centuries start with a 1? That would make it 102 for you and 103 for me.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 6 hours ago

Nope, they start at zero, just as everything should.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 8 hours ago

Ha! I was born in the sixties and amma win this! Or die trying.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 7 hours ago

That’s the spirit!

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 hours ago

Thanks! Unfortunately a lot of healthcare I need is not available to me, either due to cost or because proper treatments/cures don't exist yet. But it was a nice thought anyway.

There is going to be a 1980's person who does it out of spite!

If I make it into the top 100, I'm making it every other old fucks problem.

There can only be none.

Just start going around and unplugging everyone's life support lmao

I feel we're on the cusp of an eternal youth breakthrough in the next 30-50 years. Just gotta last and keep science funded. *Looks at the news* yeah... Maybe not. Last hope is that rich people want to live forever, but they're not known for their generosity.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 10 hours ago

Maybe GLADOS... for those who make more than 200k USD/year.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 15 hours ago

Once it's figured out, it can be taken.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 12 hours ago

I think peter thiel and and that lot have been pumping tons of money I to living forever, they want to be as different from the rest of humanity as possible so dying like a regular person is a big no no

[-] [email protected] 10 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

If I make it to 50 I'm calling it a win.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 15 hours ago

[52] After heart surgery and cancer, I didn't think I was going to make it. Now I'm the healthiest I've been since I was a teen so I'm gunning for 90+. Literal life goals.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 15 hours ago

Please no, I don't want to survive the climate apocalypse.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 15 hours ago

Climate change is gonna fuck this place up before I retire. I do not hope I win.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 15 hours ago

I'm of the group to be last to graduate high school in the 1900s

I'll be dead way before these people

[-] [email protected] 2 points 15 hours ago

I'm not winning

[-] [email protected] 2 points 15 hours ago

"The millennials will be the first generation to have the option of eternal life, or the last generation whose death is certain."

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Whew gen z just don’t have to do anything stupid… ooooh a motorcycle

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

Eh, the actual odds of getting that longevity are about one in a billionaire;)

Only the very very wealthy will likely benefit from such things.

Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
