I was able to build some trust and now it's extremely friendly, I live in an apartment complex with no pet doors in central NC, should I bring it inside and see if it's chipped in the morning? I don't wanna leave it outside if it might have no home, but I don't wanna steal someone's cat

It looks like an adolescent or a late kitten? The collar has nothing on it, it's just a piece of white flexible plastic with a buckle...

Removed the "HELP" since people in the other thread were able to help me figure out that I should leave it be outside

If the cat has a collar, someone put it on. Leave it outside.

Okay, that seems to be the consensus from the other thread too, thank you

Lol, everyone in the other thread seemed to agree that I should leave it be and that it was outside intentionally, someone very helpfully pointed out the collar looks to be a flea collar so I'm back inside now and hopefully it makes its way back to its owner's unit in the morning

But I did give it LOTS of scritches and eye kisses and attention, and sat outside or walked with it for probably about an hour

Based on the description, it's likely just a flea collar. People in my apartment put food out and flea collar any strays they can handle so it might not even indicate ownership.

Well it's not around anymore so if I see it while I'm out on a walk again or something maybe I can tuck a note in its collar and see if anyone takes it? I just went out to check cause now I'm a bit anxious could have led it away from its home and I don't want it to not be able to get back ๐Ÿ˜…

The recurring trend here clearly is me being anxious lol
