I posted this in Privacy, and News.ml
They were both removed for "off topic" and "lemmy rules". Good times. It's fun to see them literally censor news reports about censorship in China.

This, by the way, is actual real freedom of speech censorship. It's censoring anyone that talks about the government.

Also, i love that they banned an .ee account for six months. That's just extra special sauce.

Thank you

Just don't contribute to their communities. There is another privacy community that's more discuss permissive

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

That's a good point. I appreciate it.

thats why you block the triad of extremism, lemmyml, hexbear, and lemmygrad. these people are delusional to think russia and china are actually on the left, they are more to the right than anything.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

They aren't left or right, just straight authoritarian. Policies only serve to saciate the masses and maintain control.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

The terms left and right are terrible terms anyway. They do away with so much nuance.

Do you mean the Privacy community on lemmy.ml?

I got temporarily banned there after criticizing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and a moderator proceeded to remove most of my comments from the thread. Only the ones with >0 upvotes, interestingly. I give the ML mods brownie points for technique, at least.

(Regarding if "off topic" is PTB: I'm not sure if AI generation specifically regarding Tianmen square is on-topic for privacy, but I imagine it would be at home in communities discussing technology, AI, even free speech. But let's be fair, it's definitely pretense for an unwarranted instance-wide ban. Far more PTB than BPR.)

Yeah, both ml comms.
You're losing me with the abbreviations though.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

You'll find most of those in the sidebar (except AI, but I figure you're good with that one)

Browsing on app, this gives what?

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Some acronyms you might see.

  • PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.

  • YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.

  • YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.

  • BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.

  • CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn’t understand how their software works.

I posted this is Privacy, and News.ml.

Well, there’s your problem right there.

Unfortunatly it's the instance with the most vocal about the genocide in palestine. Their video communiry allow political videos unlime lemmy.world one which consider human right activism as political

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They literally practice anti-freedom of speech. Just because they're anti Palestine genocide it doesn't make them good guys.

That's like saying "oh but hexbear is gay inclusive" when in reality they're a toxic cesspool of hate.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I am not saying that they are good guys. Jus that i follow palestinian news on some of the communities on ml

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Check out Lemmy.ca.

We are (mostly) a more tolerant and progressive people on most issues.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I can't even post stuff on the community

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

I tried to redirect my cross-posting stream there, but it's locked to mods only

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

There is more posts in one day on ML Palestine sub than a whole month in .ca

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Not anymore there won't be, especially since now I have to redirect my work there because the actual second biggest c/palestine comm is [email protected] on ee sad lol

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's locked to moderators lmao ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If the mod doesn't want to unlock for whatever reason, there's also [email protected] that can be built up

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

And the way to change that is.....

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Maybe start allowing others to post

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
