Gosh lordy what an awful thing they are doing over there, slaughtering all those innocent people. Truly deplorable. What a shame we just have to sell them weapons no matter what.
"We were only selling them defensive weapons, you see. We obviously weren't expecting them to use them offensively. Anyway, they've promised not to do it again, but obviously they'll need to defend themselves from retaliation, so although we're very disappointed in them using the weapons incorrectly, we'll obviously have to continue to sell them weapons to defend themselves".
