Wayland is so goddamn close, this is the only app I'm waiting for before I can get rid of xwayland besides steam/proton

Many things still don’t work for me just a black screen. I try from time to time. I’m using bottles and disabled X11 permissions in flatpak to test wayland. I only play older titles (pre-2010). The oldest game I have is Total Annihilation (1997), and I also have Anno 1602 (1998). Neither game runs on Wayland, and they’re not the only ones. Some games do work, like majesty 2, but it has broken camera movement with the mouse. Wayland and wndows are too different to make certain behaviors match, so Xwayland is still needed for some applications.

Git? Yep. If you're asking whether I clone wine from gitlab, the answer is yes. I clone it, compile it myself, and place it in the bottles directory. I also use Kron4ek builds for Wine Staging and TKG.

May I ask what I helped you with?

Ah, and Bottles is currently broken. If you try to run something in the terminal, it doesn’t work. There is a bug report open, but the developer of the app is "busy", so the only way to fix this is to downgrade the Flatpak.

Oh nothing important, I'm a long way away from home and won't be home for quite a while, meaning I can't test myself and am curious of the status of wine-wayland.

GE has already put the Wayland patches into Proton so if you could ditch Steam you could get rid of XWayland now.

Steam is very strange anyways. On the Steam Deck gaming mode launches the Wayland compositor gamescope which launches Steam in XWayland which launches games in gamescope which launches the game in a second XWayland session.
