Okay what's bugman materialism

[-] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

Guy who thinks eating chicken wings and breeding are the top 2 tasks for marxism to solve and not like world inequality and misery alleviation. Loves to treat other humans as bugs, especially children, while being sanctimonious about it despite saying they don't believe in morality.

Great man theory is when individuals do things

What is bugman Marxism? Do I even want to know? Am I a bugman?

Well the top two results are either consumerist fools or a racist term for chinese people, so I’m gonna assume it’s the first?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Oh I just assumed it was nonsense but if those are my choices I'm going to assume it's the first lol

You are a bugman if you use false accusations of moralism to defend consuming things. You are a bugman if you use resource consumption as a stand-in for human flourishing. You are a bugman if you have a nu-atheist understanding of what materialism means and use it to argue against actual Marxist Leninist positions from your imperial core position.

This is my manifesto (for humans only, it's not a bugifesto).

I appreciate the explanation. I‘ve likely been guilty of all of those at various points in my development. I was definitely a nu-atheist in my adolescence, took a while to break out of that, but reading Graeber and Marx helped with that.

Most recently I’ve been reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed, and watching this MLM channel on TikTok that posts old videos from the cultural revolution, and it’s been amazing seeing Freire’s work come to life in the actions of the revolution. There was a video with an old professor where he discusses how he felt before and after, and his before is essentially the banking model of education, and his after is along the lines of what was described as a superior alternative to the banking model. I’m going to China next year and I’m so goddamn excited.

You have any reading recommendations? Or if you’ve been to China, have any recommendations there for me?

I like to think I'm a sophisticated materialist bugmensch, thank you very much.

In the sense that it's my job to remove bugs as a bugman, maybe (woke brigade keeps trying to get us to call ourselves debuggers -- not happening). This is what I drive every day.
