40k noob here, slowly building up to a 1000 point Ork army

So far I have

Ork Combat Patrol
1x Beastboss (80 pts)
2x Beast Snagga boyz (2 x 95 = 190pts)
1x Squighog Boyz (160pts)

1x Trukk (65pts)

1x Killa Kanz (125pts)

1x Stormboyz (65pts)

Which should take me to 685pts

So far I've just kind of been randomly acquiring things based on what looks cool to me in the moment when I see them in a store, which feels like an appropriately orky way to build an army, but I figured I should maybe start applying a little kunnin to my burgeoning WAAAGH

So where would yooz gitz go frum here?

I'm thinking a box or two of gretchin will probably be my next acquisition, which leaves me with 200-some points to fill

EDIT: Based on comments here and a bit of googling, I think I'm looking at getting

2x10 grots
1x Beastboss on squigosaur
1x10 Boyz

Which will get me to 975 points, good enough for me

I own Two Stompa. I should not advise on orks. It’s irresponsible of me to.

That said you should buy several Stompa.

Also looking at what you have komandos or some form of heavy weapons may be helpful at 1k pt

Grots are always a useful addition.
What to suggest next really depends on whether you're looking to build a specific force (e.g. green tide) or have fun with whatever takes your fancy.

Mostly just looking to have fun, not planning to get super competitive about it, just trying to have a good time fucking around with some little green dudes.

I'm about 75% in it for the painting, but I wouldn't be able to justify the cost of minis to myself if I wasn't playing the game too.

2x10 grots is definitely a good choice. You can get a beadtboss on squigasaur for the squighogs to get a really high treat blob. Getting some basic Ork Boyz is also always good if you are getting into orks. Eventually you will want more trukks and a warboss. But getting what you vibe with is definitely the general best way to go.

There are also a couple Ork discords you can join if you want.

This is what I do, hasn’t done me wrong. If 82 dudes with jump packs is wrong then I don’t give a fuck what’s right.

Not too familiar with orks, but gretchin look to be a good add for some objective capturing and blocking fodder, maybe grab something to hold your home objective. All depends on if you’re looking to capture points and grab mission objectives, or if you’re looking to play accurate to the lore and just drown your opponents in the WAAAAAAAAGH! There are no wrong answers.
