That's beautiful. And reading it reminds me of the salamander lighter in Farahnheit 451, and now I know why salamanders are said to represent protection from fire. Thanks!
Another aspect of the association of salamanders with fire is that they sometimes hibernate in rotted wood. Movement generally doesn't disturb them too much, but being tossed on a fire will result in the poor fellows scurrying out - giving the appearance that they 'came' from the fire. Similarly, as they're cold blooded, they're generally not warm to the touch, giving the further idea that they are in some way 'immune' to that same fire.
TIL! Thank you! (What a great way to spend coffee time before the day goes wild😌)
Historical Artifacts
Just a community for everyone to share artifacts, reconstructions, or replicas for the historically-inclined to admire!
Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.
Generally speaking, ruins should go to [email protected]
Illustrations of the past should go to [email protected]
Photos of the past should go to [email protected]
