Sure, but just because we will stop releasing more CO2 doesn't mean it will go down. It will still be there. Ending fossil fuels is the first, necessary step. But turning the heat down will take a lot more work.

Regular folks don't have much say in running the economy. Resource extraction, manufacturing, and ultra rich individuals (i.e. folks with private jets and yachts and such) create the most emissions. Oil and gas companies in particular also influence governments to look the other way.
