Left to right:

  • Contemporary Palestinian vase from Ramallah

  • 1960s East German vase

  • wooden Soviet vase, 1950s-70s maybe

  • 1910s Austro-Hungarian art nouveau vase

  • 1970 Soviet vase in honour of Lenin's 100th birthday

Only the Lenin one cost more than $30. I'm aiming for antique pieces from countries that have been significant to the left or modernist movements.

This hobby seems like it will be limited by the amount of shelf/counter space you have. But I love it so much. Thanks for showing off your collection!

I figure 50-100 pieces is the reasonable goal. I'm only able to find cheap/neat vases on Ebay, but if I find a particularly standout example then it will become its own subcollection.

That's cool as hell. You should get one of those tiny kilns they sell online and you can make your own using century old inspiration. I'd buy one. chomsky-yes-honey

Unfortunately ceramics is one medium I've never been good with. My thing will be floral stained glass once I clear off enough workshop space for proper windows.
