More than just mildly interesting. Imagine going to your living room and seeing this.

Helberg only discovered the unexpected visitor when a panicked neighbour who had rung his doorbell repeatedly to no avail gave up and called him on the phone.

“The doorbell rang at a time of day when I don’t like to open,” Helberg told television channel TV2.

Relatable

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 33 points 11 months ago

Helberg says he did not wake up when the ship hit land a few meters away from the house.

But we woke up to the neighbor loudly ringing the doorbell. He said: Haven't you seen the ship?

It was quite absurd. When I looked out the window, there was a huge ship's bow there, says Helberg.

Lol I love this guy

This seems like a Douglas Adams skit

[-] jqubed@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Watching this interview it really does:

Interview with Johan Helberg by TV2 in Norway with English subtitles by Sky News

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

Helberg, the hero of Trondheim. It's a warmish spring morning; how many of those do they get a year there? 20? Helberg is not gonna waste that.

[-] jqubed@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Saw this interview with him on Imgur just now; he’s so nonchalant:

Lucky for the company, they don't appear to have hit any trees

[-] Gustephan@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Is Norway tree law brutal?

I wonder what the salvage rights are in these cases

[-] 18_24_61_b_17_17_4@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Could have landed anywhere else on that empty shoreline but almost hit that tiny house. Shit sucks sometimes.

[-] HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

I'd say it's the opposite of sucky that the house was missed

[-] neumast@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Reminds me of /r/fuckyouinparticular on the other side, that must not be named

Edit: found /c/fuckyouinparticular !fuckyouinparticular@lemmy.world

But Helberg is ok!

[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

huh, the news is reporting on a lot of out of control boats recently, it seems.

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 months ago

Well, once one makes big headlines, and clicks, the media realizes it's been a neglected source of revenue.

Werebthey aiming for that home? It looks like the only one around

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Population density is about on the level of Finland, I live in the south of Finland, and houses on the coast like that with several hundred meters of no-one else around aren't that rare when you go even 5-10km fron the city centre.

So I assume they aren't in Trondheim either.

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 months ago

Well that was my point yeah, no one else around yet that ship is right on top of his house

[-] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Ziggy, your ship came in!

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
