Windows XP, with Windows 10+ terminal, using Linux directories.

Though if you look at the internet taskbar icon it's a Windows 7/10+ icon, so it may all be a skin running on cygwin/wsl)

Also the internet icon shows there is Internet.

In the case of an apple II

Macintosh Pus actually. At least I hope it’s a Plus. If they gutted a 128k or 512k that would be sad.

[-] [email protected] 25 points 2 months ago

Macintosh Pus? 😂🤣

I'd leave the spelling error, I got a good laugh. 👍

do not stick your floppy in there

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

There's been runs of new plastic cases by some companies. I considered getting one and putting modern parts inside as a project, but didn't have the cash at the time. Could be something like that.

I bet it's just Linux with a skin.

The Internet icon is a fucking liar, and if you don't agree with me you haven't been on enough networks.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

What do you mean it's not a DNS error!

[-] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

In a 1980s Macintosh case.

Also the internet icon shows there is Internet.

Looks to me like the icon that indicates the machine being connected to a network, but that network is not connected to the Internet.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

"Connected to the Internet" is a spectrum from "no network interface available" to "can reach every server that people agree is 'online'". Is it enough to have a working TCP/IP stack, receive a ping reply from connectivitycheck.android.com (or other arbitrary server), or do you have to know if there's a firewall (like in China)?

…on an ancient beige-assed Mac

[-] [email protected] 84 points 2 months ago

It’s the Windows taskbar. They used to let you move it to the top but had to remove that feature to support CoPilot.

[-] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago

I am a left side taskbar kind of guy. No room for me in default Windows either anymore.

[-] [email protected] 43 points 2 months ago

I hated this change, I've used a side taskbar in windows my entire IT career. It makes it painfully obvious which taskbar is yours and which is the servers when logged in over RDP. With this simple tweak, I had quite literally never made a click error on a remote server... Until windows 11.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 2 months ago

that's a clever way to use it!

I used to do this back before browsers had tabs and everyone I told thought I was nuts for doing it, now I just don't care.

How in the world do you get a java exception in rust?? Also the invoking program is java

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

Java can interface with other languages! It's how basically all games written in java exist, they're using LWJGL (Lightweight Java Game Library) to interface with GLFW (an OpenGL implementation written in C).

Who the FUCK puts the xp taskbar at the TOP!?

[-] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago

I’ve had top taskbar auto hide since Win95.

MacOS got it right back in 1984 but Windows insisted on doing it wrong like an edgy teen wearing their baseball cap to the side.

Cool Retro Term has finally added hardware support. They even included the vertical wrap-around when a capacitor is about to pop!

top-aligned taskbar like a heretic

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

My waybar/polybar is up there, not sure it qualifies as a taskbar but if so I'll have you know it's feelings are hurt.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Sweet monitor frame! Where can I get one of those.
