I'm gutted at what's happened to this site...for me it was arguably the best website i've ever used in 25+ years of using the internet...such a shame...I really hope that just for once somebody listens to the complaints & puts things back as they were, otherwise it's useless to me.

It's currently broken, too. Just keeps going round and round in loops without actually generating anything

I know...I feel like crying at what's happened to the site, lol.

The site? Image gen is just a plugin on the site. It's a site for creating generators, which are small programs and pages for creating various randomized content. Image gen is a plugin that can be imported into a generator.

I don't understand how changing one plugin has ruined the whole site.

I'm starting to give up on using this site now - used to create loads of "celeb" images, have just for example typed in "stephanie beacham" using "no style" and after waiting an eternity i'm given 4 images of random women standing on a beach - tried "black pontiac transam" last night & got a random car - what is the point in making the site worse??..it was so simple to use & now seems that you need a degree in english lit to get anything nowhere near resembling what you want. #baffling

I got a degree in English, and my prompt paragraphs, which I wrote, scrapped, rewrote and fine tuned for hours a day which led to months of brain drain to get somewhere stable with satisfactory results, is now all undone, ruined and tarnished. Either the new model itself is illiterate or we now have to resort to biblical text format(s).

This was my refuge for guilty/carnal pleasures. As someone who personally prefers the imaginary over the real thing, I kind of feel disabled/handicapped. The new model is overtly realistic with hideous mutated output, while the old one maintained a fine tuned balance between realistic and imaginary.

Same here, used to spend far too much time on here tbh, literally "simply" creating 1000s of images of what I wanted (in seconds) - now that's all gone...it's become slow & overcomplicated...it's not worth the effort anymore...why not give users both options?

Because hosting an AI model is not free. To host both models at the same time would likely require additional cost.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Buying servers and bandwidth for long term will literally cost anyone worth of 2 mortgages in city centers, hardware costs are borderline ridiculous these days, let alone maintaining them for 24/7 in a air conditioned room. Those who provide the hosting services are robber barons - they weigh your needs and play the good buddy; and when you are completely reliant on them, then suddenly one day, the price hikes without a proper explanation, because shifting to another provider would cost downtime and extra $$ for file and model transfers.

Well,I would willingly pay for the old version.

I was creating a steampunk adventuress using actress Jennifer Love-Hewitt as a base due to uncanny resemblance to a family member. Tried the same prompts and I get NOTHING that looks remotely close.

Yes it was great for that sort of thing...I can only hope that in a few months it will have learned what "celebs" look like when trying to get a resemblance...the old version used to nail most of them.

I was a little bummed, too. But give the new template a try—it’s actually pretty good. There are still a few things that could be improved. The preset styles look a little weird and out of whack. But seriously, give it a try. Take a look at these drawings I made—they’re starting to come close to a standard. I didn’t even have to throw away the old prompts, I just tweaked them a bit.

One tip: set "No style" under Art Style and define your own style manually.

I'm successfully resisting posting this image I just generated here so as to not fan the flames of conflict.

What's wrong? Did something with generator creation break? I'll admit, I haven't been here very long, but it all seems pretty cool to me.

The new engine creates some twisted mutants. The old one sometimes had problems with the fingers of the hands, but now everything is disgustingly disproportionate and twisted 🤢

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

That square faced big-lips one? 😆

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Add to that -- warped hands, adolescent child, bony legs and a stomach loaded with worms

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

They replaced a well trained and resourceful Stable Diffusion 1.5 model with an untrained and more expensive FLUX-1.Schnell model.........

[-] [email protected] -2 points 2 weeks ago

I don't see the problem its more accurate now less likely to mess up the only downside is the slowness

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

there are many, maaaany downsides, but its pointless to discuss that, people refuse to see the galery with 500 different hair colors but same identical faces, this new model may work fine for scenarios or anime, but every other thing.... its a huge nope

⚄︎ Perchance

This is a Lemmy Community for perchance.org, a platform for sharing and creating random text generators.

Feel free to ask for help, share your generators, and start friendly discussions at your leisure :)

This community is mainly for discussions between those who are building generators. For discussions about using generators, especially the popular AI ones, the community-led Casual Perchance forum is likely a more appropriate venue.

See this post for the Complete Guide to Posting Here on the Community!

Rules

1. Please follow the Lemmy.World instance rules.

2. Be kind and friendly.

  • Please be kind to others on this community (and also in general), and remember that for many people Perchance is their first experience with coding. We have members for whom English is not their first language, so please be take that into account too :)

3. Be thankful to those who try to help you.

  • If you ask a question and someone has made a effort to help you out, please remember to be thankful! Even if they don't manage to help you solve your problem - remember that they're spending time out of their day to try to help a stranger :)

4. Only post about stuff related to perchance.

  • Please only post about perchance related stuff like generators on it, bugs, and the site.

5. Refrain from requesting Prompts for the AI Tools.

  • We would like to ask to refrain from posting here needing help specifically with prompting/achieving certain results with the AI plugins (text-to-image-plugin and ai-text-plugin) e.g. "What is the good prompt for X?", "How to achieve X with Y generator?"
  • See Perchance AI FAQ for FAQ about the AI tools.
  • You can ask for help with prompting at the 'sister' community Casual Perchance, which is for more casual discussions.
  • We will still be helping/answering questions about the plugins as long as it is related to building generators with them.

6. Search through the Community Before Posting.

  • Please Search through the Community Posts here (and on Reddit) before posting to see if what you will post has similar post/already been posted.
