"It's not about the money and power. We don't feel loved. We don't feel respected. Feelings are the most important out of all things." She then swallowed the Trump note she was told to read.

Conservatives are the party of oil industries and elites, gaslighting the working rural class into believing they are against the elite.

Oil companies are publicly traded, I dont think they make as much money as you think, and are extremely cyclical. Pipeline companies tend to do a heck of a lot better, and are sheltered from oil price volatility, and even they are valued pretty cheaply. Alberta is lucky anybody invests in oil companies at all, given Bill 69, Kinder morgan and Transmountain pipeline being blocked by indigenous consulation laws, emissions caps, a new PM that literally wrote a book about how oil has to stay in the ground.

Albertans talk about alienation as if any of us living outside of Toronto or Vancouver don't experience the same sense of "people only talk about Toronto and Vancouver".

Meanwhile, Albertans routinely shit on Atlantic Canada, behave as if BC is just Calgary's port, and complain bitterly and non-stop about the French.

Dani doth complain too much.

It’s disgusting how oil extraction has come to dominate the culture of Alberta and the CPC in general.

In reality the industry far less important than it’s credited for, and it’s incredibly mismanaged by the Albertan government. The oil extraction should be run by the province as a public benefit to enrich their population, like in Saudi Arabia or Norway.

The management should focus on maximizing long-term value and building up local industry to add value. Giving away so much of the value of an inherently limited resource is so incredibly wasteful and unnecessary.

Albertans ought to be outraged that the UPC and other right wingers have privatized what should be their fortune into the hands of few. But instead the propagandists have convinced them to be outraged their future isn’t being squandered fast enough.

The burden is on us to make this farce understood.

Raw resources, utilities, and public services should never be privatized. No sensible person should ever trust a corporation to properly manage our land.

She's a fucking sellout and a traitor.

Albertan oil is such a small industry in this country and the world.

Alberta was a have-not province until the 1960s and received equalization payments that it now sees as unfair.

This talk of separation serves no one but the 1%. As an Albertan, I say fuck Dani and her opportunistic resource rapists.

The BC weed industry is bigger than the Alberta oil industry.

Really hard to find legit data on that, because most of the industry is still black market.

Globally conservatives have decided they'd rather be sick and poor under a right-wing "daddy" government than rich and healthy under a left-wing "mommy" government.

There is this insecurity growing inside white people. They are starting to panic that their skin colour doesn't offer them the advantages it used to pre-2008. I think social media shows them wealthy people of colour and they're starting to internalize this as "all minorities are doing better than I am".

It's about dividing Canadians to make us easier to control

[–] [email protected] 9 points 23 hours ago

It's really about treason.

She’s a brainless fluffer for the oil industry. Alberta - always a race to the bottom with the “politicians” they elect. 🙄 I thought Ralph Klein was bad, but they topped that human failure with Kenney and now even worse then Kenney - Marlaina. Fuck it. I hope AB leaves Canada. It will be tiny, pathetic and landlocked, cause they won’t be able to take unceded Indigenous territory with them.

Don't say that :(I live here (though not completely by choice), and I don't want these idiots to succeed with this bullshit!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

No one does tbh. There’s no way it happens - Quebec had a better rationale to separate, & that failed. Alberta separating will fail also. But the talk of it is doing damage to Canada as a whole rn.
