Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram after the Department of Homeland Security suggested they may pursue arrests of three Democratic lawmakers who partook in a protest outside of an ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey. Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), Rob Menendez (D-NJ) and LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) all attended the protest.

Ma'am, with the greatest and utmost possible respect, the rest of the world submits that you people already have several problems.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Hold up - they participated in the protest? Or they showed up and required a tour of the facility, which is their right as federal lawmakers?

What I saw indicated only the latter? Did they actually participate in the protest?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 hours ago

I have no idea but whether they did or not is irrelevant.

Protesting is constitutionally protected speech even for lawmakers, and has no bearing on their rights as elected officials to tour those facilities.

There are going to be so many furrowed brows.

I hope they don’t need to write another Strongly Worded Letter!

If you come for my constituents, stop no...

If you come for our mayors, that's unfortunate.

Threaten our governors? So sad, horrible, can nothing be done?

Come for me? We're going to have a problem.

None fo the Dems are going to do shit until they come for them directly, a year after it's too late to do shit.

dude we should all be rioting at this point. shit is so fucked.

The oligarchs have the population exactly where they want them to be: poor, unhealthy, divided and unable to mount a concrete unified resistance.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

the whole US population has been indoctrinated to believe non-violent action is effective and the only thing thats acceptable. fucking strange for a country that is so hardcore 2a.

Despite the perception that we are a country of cowboys, not all of us believe that the solution to our problems is to go out and start killing people.

Which is cool and all, but fascism has never been beaten in a peaceful manner. Fascists don't give a shit about how peaceful or honorable you are. They'll strip you of your rights, imprison anyone who disagrees, and murder the people they don't like.

What makes you think you have to kill people? Why not just sink their yachts, burn their planes and homes? Dox them. Shut down airports with drones -- nationally. Burn their warehouses, datacenters, factories. Hack their computers and steal their money. Etc... etc...

Americans are so indoctrinated that they think killing is the natural next progression of peaceful protests.

Humiliating them is much more damaging to their stupid movement.

You first 🤷‍♂️

I get this seems flippant but truly, I see so many "we need a general strike" and "we should be protesting/rioting" comments but whenever a protest or something is done people go "look at the neolibs patting themselves on the back" from the safety of their keyboards.

What have you done lately? What have any of us done lately? We're all sitting around waiting for someone else to go "get out there and do it!" It's not going to happen. We have to organize. And here's the unfortunate truth: Organizing isn't sexy. It takes a LOT of work and you get told "no" a lot. I find it very hard to participate sometimes. But we all have to do it rather than smash our keyboards about it.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 9 hours ago (4 children)

Tell me, did she also sLaM him? I'm fucking sick of this posturing, do something already

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Ugh there's so much of this obnoxious shit on YouTube. "Person A DEMOLISHES Trump in front of Setting B!" And then the video is literally just someone saying the same shit everyone is saying and Trump isn't even there. Or like "Watch Republican mortified as they realize they screwed themselves by electing Trump" and there's literally zero self reflection or regret.

There are so many videos and headlines that are literally just feeding on the clickbait potential of people waiting for a substantial response to this complete mess. Hypothetical dunking on people who aren't even in the room or don't react at all isn't the victory people seem to like to advertise it as.

And then they like fully miss an actual town hall in a Republican district booing the shit out of some MAGA toolbox.

If the trump admin goes after congress members, they're going after the Squad first so most democrats will be on board.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 10 hours ago

If the bar has to be that high given everything they have already done, then perhaps you are living in an oligarchy.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 11 hours ago (4 children)

Oh a big problem!? Like what exactly? What are going to do against a group of people who laugh at the supreme court and dont follow court orders? All they can do is send a strongly worded letter and say "Shame shame". We are already a dictatorship these other branches have no power other than for optics.

Hooray for more posturing! Really nice that this current administration has shown without a doubt that our entire system is full of spineless garbage that really will do nothing to balance power, which is literally why those branches of government exist. Yes AOC is a firecracker and more verbal than most. Yes, she drives change and is a speaker for a the people. But without any backup from the entirety of our gov, she's just a megaphone yelling into a void.
