The comments can be bit negative on hacker news. I, for one, am incredibly excited and happy about the community fork.

Many of them have no idea about the context of the fork, especially that it is many of the main contributors of the original repo who are making it

hackernews seems to have this idea that all forks are bad and you should always hate the forking org. out here in the real world, the vim community and the neovim community are largely the same people. but on hackernews neovim is an evil organization hellbent on preventing any donations from going to vim's charityware aims. nevermind that neovim has all over their docs how important it is to donate to the charities vim supports
