They've been talking about this since back when I used to work there (up to 2016) and still no progress? The worry I had was closing it to buses as well. For people just going there for a fun day out shopping, it's fine, just reschedule, but for those who work there, tube strikes will be an extra layer of fun when the nearest bus stop is a 20 minute walk away.

I still maintain that e-pedicabs should be a TfL thing.

...because it's the A40.

If you pedestrianised it you only have Euston road running east west across the city north of the river.

At the very least it needs to be open to buses, taxis and commercial traffic. I expect if you looked at the vehicles on using it, it would be buses taxis and commercial traffic. It's been inside the congestion charge area for 22 years so it's not used by people going shopping.

There would ultimately be 0 impact to anyone by closing this street to traffic. The idea that this is the only way to cross "the city" laterally by car is frankly ridiculous and a non argument. So what? Take the Euston road instead, as you point out
