What is Neurodivergence?

It's ADHD, Autism, OCD, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, bi-polar, aspd, etc etc etc etc

“neurologically atypical patterns of thought or behavior”

So, it’s very broad, if you feel like it describes you then it does as far as we're concerned

Rules

1.) ableist language=post or comment will probably get removed (enforced case by case, some comments will be removed and restored due to complex situations). repeated use of ableist language=banned from comm and possibly site depending on severity. properly tagged posts with CW can use them for the purposes of discussing them

2.) always assume good faith when dealing with a fellow nd comrade especially due to lack of social awareness being a common symptom of neurodivergence

2.5) right to disengage is rigidly enforced. violations will get you purged from the comm. see rule 3 for explanation on appeals

3.) no talking over nd comrades about things you haven't personally experienced as a neurotypical chapo, you will be purged. If you're ND it is absolutely fine to give your own perspective if it conflicts with another's, but do so with empathy and the intention to learn about each other, not prove who's experience is valid. Appeal process is like appealing in user union but you dm the nd comrade you talked over with your appeal (so make it a good one) and then dm the mods with screenshot proof that you resolved it. fake screenies will get you banned from the site, we will confirm with the comrade you dm'd.

3.5) everyone has their own lived experiences, and to invalidate them is to post cringe. comments will be removed on a case by case basis depending on determined level of awareness and faith

4.) Interest Policing will not be tolerated in any form. Support your comrades in their joy!

Half the pharmacies in town are refusing to dispense my sister's lisdexamfetamine prescription because she doesn't have an existing "maintenance prescription" with that pharmacy.

They (presumably) don't want any patients who receive only a controlled substance from them for fear of the DEA accusing them of being a pill mill.

What if someone doesn't have any other prescriptions? Or they do but their regular pharmacy is out of stock? Every year it's some new bullshit.

I didn't even know pharmacies could just straight up refuse to take a prescription, that seems like, idk, something they should be legally barred from doing

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

Ok but did you consider that the pharmacist wouldn't want to bake a prescription for people like that because of his religion?

But how else are they supposed to help perpetuate the very successful War on Drugs? Won't you think of all the people at the DEA who would lose their jobs?

i stopped taking adderoll cuz i have way more pride than i got sense and i can't abide having to take a drug test to prove I'm taking their shitty speed. plus all their bullshit acting like i can't have a 3 month supply cuz obviously id sell it or something.

im not gonna take that attitude from a drug dealer. fuuuuck.

but i am as i said very stupid

Or they do but their regular pharmacy is out of stock?

This might be part of the reasoning itself. They want to preserve stock so they don't send their regular customers elsewhere and potentially lose the other prescription in the process.

The idea that RFK Jr thinks he knows better about my health than I do is comically absurd y'all

IDK if he's responsible for this policy. The DEA has been breathing down the neck of pharmacies for years.

Yeah just made me think of all his anti adhd med BS

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

This makes me so crazy.

If it were easier, I'd start making my ADHD meds for myself, but nOoOoOo what if a neutotypical wants to use it to get hiiiiigh? We can't have that!

Argh!

My brother found that sourcing his ADHD meds from Sam Club has been super hassle free. If you didn't know, they legally must allow anyone to use their pharmacy, regardless of membership! Most states also require them to sell booze to everyone too. But hopefully your sister can give this a shot and she'll get similar results.

Sams is alright but subject to the same corporate policies as Walmart, and OP's situation smacks of big chain corporate BS. Worth checking out for sure but with tempered expectations...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Well said! We figured it all came down to the membership aspect of the business, as well as their huge breadth of services offered. This results in them just wanting to get people in and out rather than fight customers over "trivial" transactions.

what the hell

i wonder if this is partially ableism, that if you're not taking a maintenance prescription (prescription you take daily), they won't give you your treatments because clearly there's no other reason for someone to not take a daily drug but take other things if they're mentally ill/disabled

for a while i took hormones that i take once every few months for PCOS, i wonder if they wouldn't sell me that too or if it's one of the good drugs thinking-about-it

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

jesus, can she get a prescription for some other stuff that would be covered under her insurance? antidepressants, antianxiety or whatever?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Sorry to hear of the struggle. Has she tried smaller chains or independent pharmacies? That policy reeks of national chain bullshit.

Are you sure you don't have more than one diagnosible, prescribable condition?

Are you absolutely sure? We offer great deals.
