Hey guys

As you can see in the picture, I have the problem that my programs always open in half size windows.

Obviously I'm just trying to improve my quality of life, but is it possible to change this setting? I would prefer the programs to start in full screen.

Is this Cinnamon? How did you get that dock?

Transparent menu with an applet in the middle. No dock. If you're looking for a dock, I recommend Plank. Very simple. Just works.

I'm not sure that it is Cinnamon, but Cinnamon does let you put things in the middle of a panel, so it's pretty easy to make something similar to that.

You could use something like Devilspie2 to set the size/position of windows when they open.

Assuming you are using the “default” Cinnamon desktop, you could use the keyboard shortcut to maximize the window, which should be Alt + F10.

Maybe someone else will know of a native setting but unfortunately I am not aware of one.

Never tried it, nor do I know which WM/compositor that is, but if it's Gnome/mutter, I saw this last week: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1193/maximized-by-default/
