So I am walking (at a graduation ceremony) this weekend, it feels hollow though given I still have my entire masters paper to write, and that feels pointless because I am watching the entire field I am a part in get dismantled infront of my eyes.

I guess I've been keeping away from non-left spaces for too long because it was a big shock that when I recommended people to not go to the US I receive pushback as if it's unfounded for you as a non-white to get kidnapped out of nowhere. It will never not be crazy to me how people, especially third-worlders can see the US in any positive light still. And their refutation is that "You don't live there, the people who live there would know". Which clearly doesn't hold up.

Just finished reading The Vegeterian by Han Kang. I think more people should read it but to say it was a fun book goes too far. Disturbing is a better word I guess.

Ultimately it is a critique of the societal role of women in (Korean) society. Also important was the idea that the ultimate enforcer of societal roles is violence and that those who will reject it will be subjected to violence, while at the same time receive another form of violence for not rejecting it.

It's scary how little rain we had this year so far. I can think of maybe a day or five with some rain. And nobody seems to care.
