if you don't know what happened: people who were annoying enough to be banned from 4chan destroyed the site for good and leaked hundred of emails and data of moderators and owners and also the entire source code and the owners literally pulled the plug because it was unrecoverable

a lot of people are saying this will be like the Tumblr exodus all over again but, I don't think that it will happen or be on the same scale as the Tumblr exodus for 1 reason:

the Tumblr exodus happened because Tumblr took away what majority of Tumblr users were there for (porn) while Reddit and Twitter allowed it, I don't think that Twitter or Reddit will allow what 4Channers will be looking for in 4chan replacement ie. an ability to say or post practically anything they want.

Couldn't they just go to 8chan or any of the other racist, pedo chan sites?

Or Twitter?

The ones that go to other chans tend to be the most hardcore. 4chan was always the defacto place for the Chuds. I likened it to a gateway drug for groyper manufacturing.

This could give rise to one of their competitors, but that's a worry for another day. For now, let's bask in the light of their suffering.

I used to go there back when Anonymous was still doing don't good for the world. I wasn't a Leftist yet, just a normie, not very political, but I knew what was taught. I learned a lot of Cybersecurity stuff back then, and I have a career today in that field. But I bounced when they started unironically Nazi posting constantly, and introduced /pol/.

The original owner was still in charge too, so no one should think he's innocent, despite selling the site before the Trump regime.

So glad I got out of that influence.

I think the attackers might have been from the sharty, a soyjak themed image board that is a chan in all but name.

Sure there's SOME guardrails on twitter but outside of shit like child pornography 4chan is known for they can safely move over to there for all their racist needs.

good news for once

They'll just go to a different imageboard. The only reason why there was an exodus of Redditors to Lemmy was because the interface was similar. Same with Twitter to Mastodon and Bluesky.

Should've happened 10+ years ago. They're partially responsible for the shit we're in now.

I'm glad karma spares no one. Tell it to hurry up on the despite though.
